Hereditary gypsy Alexander Martsinkevich was born in 1967. The boy’s childhood passed under the melodic ringing of a tambourine and polysyllabic guitar chords, because he grew up among musicians in the atmosphere of gypsy song folklore. Sasha with all his heart was drawn to music, and when he grew up, he learned to play the drum, and then the guitar. He sang well, at the age of 13 already tried to compose his own compositions.
The appearance of the group "Convertible"
In the early nineties, Alexander Martsinkevich joined the gypsy band Mirikle, who worked in restaurants and occasionally played at weddings. Alexander was burdened by his position, the work did not bring satisfaction. And in 1994, the musician gathered a group of like-minded people with the goal of creating a gypsy song ensemble. So there was a group of "Convertible". "White Rose" - a song written much later - will be the hallmark of the team.
First step
The path of Alexander Martsinkevich to his best songs began, the path is long, but truly creative. Today, the phrase "Convertible - White Rose" or "Convertible - Chains" is familiar to all fans of the musician. Since 1995, Cabriolet has participated in song contests and festivals, which made it possible for the group to show themselves to the general public and gain popularity. At the 1996 Gipsy Music Festival in Poland, the Cabriolet received the Grand Prix. Then the musicians recorded their first album "Moret", the songs from which remained for about a year at the highest levels of musical rating, and a video was shot on one of them. However, all this happened in Poland. But in Russia, they did not immediately realize what kind of group such a “Cabriolet” was. The White Rose was not written yet.
Milestones
Russian recording studios did not dare to release the disc "More", since all the songs on it were in gypsy language. I had to reconsider the direction of creativity. Subsequently, Alexander Martsinkevich formed a repertoire of songs with Russian text. The band’s popularity curve has gone up. From now on, the Cabriolet group, the song White Rose and other songs in Russian were heard by the general public. The next competition for the "Convertible" was the Moscow festival of pop songs in 1997. And in 1999, the Gypsy group became the laureate of the "Silver Key" variety contest in St. Petersburg. The image of the Cabriolet group was gradually formed. "White Rose" and other songs of Alexander Martsinkevich were waiting in the wings.
Main event
But a real milestone in the work of the already popular ensemble "Cabriolet" was the International Festival of Gypsy Art called "At the Turn of the Century", chaired by Nikolai Slichenko. The festival-concert turned into a real extravaganza with the participation of 300 groups. The panel of judges selected the 30 best performers, among them was the Cabriolet, which received the Gold Medal. After the festival "At the Turn of the Century," Alexander Martsinkevich received the unofficial title of "People's Gypsy", his popularity rose to the pinnacle of public recognition. Of course, the musician shares his success with his native Cabriolet team. "White Rose", "Black Horse", "Chains", "Where are you waiting for me" and many other songs do not leave the first positions of numerous musical ratings.
