Wash the potatoes, peel and chop finely. Rinse it under water to remove excess starch. Cut the carrots into thin strips, chop the onion into half rings. Rinse the cabbage a little (if required) and chop finely with a knife or chopper. Cabbage should turn out twice as much as potatoes.

Use a thick-walled pan or deep frying pan for stewing. Melt the butter in it. Sauté chopped onion. After it becomes translucent, put chopped cabbage in a pan. Pour in water, close the lid and simmer for about 10 minutes over medium heat.

Wash the potato, remove the skin, cut into cubes. Add to cabbage and simmer another 10 minutes. Keep an eye on the water level - add another quarter cup if necessary.
