Each nation has its own culture. But it is not only in the history of this country. The national culture leaves a huge imprint on the behavior of people and their eating habits. Due to its geographical location and certain political situations, Serbian cuisine combines the taste preferences of the inhabitants of the former Austro-Hungarian, Mediterranean and even Middle East. In addition to meat, soups and salads, desserts and various flour products are also considered traditional dishes in it. The most popular of them is Serbian koch. It is prepared on Sundays in almost every family. This can be done in different ways.
Classic version
In fact, the Serbian kokh is an ordinary mannik who has been familiar to many since childhood. The preparation of such a product usually takes very little time. The only difference is that after baking, it is customary for the Serbs to pour such a pie with milk, and then keep it in the refrigerator for a long time. The result is a gentle, juicy and very tasty dessert. In order to cook Serbian koch, you will need the following main components:
- 6 eggs;
- 225 grams of sugar (including 75 grams for pouring);
- 70 grams of flour and semolina;
- half a teaspoon of vanilla sugar;
- one and a half teaspoons of baking powder;
- 400 milliliters of milk.
Such a dessert is prepared as follows:
- The yolks must first be separated from the proteins.
- Mix dry ingredients (flour, baking powder and semolina).
- Grind the yolks with sugar.
- Turn proteins separately with a whisk into a stable foam.
- Combine both masses and mix them well.
- Prepare the dough, introducing dry ingredients in parts.
- Process the inside with butter, and then lightly sprinkle it with semolina.
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- Transfer the dough into a mold and bake for 45 minutes.
- Bring the milk in a stewpan to a boil, and then dissolve in it regular and vanilla sugar.
- Soak the mixture in a still warm pie and refrigerate it.
After 3 hours, the dessert will be completely ready. It is usually served with fragrant hot tea at the table.
Koch with berries
In the summer, when the season of berries begins, I want to cook all kinds of desserts with them. And Serbian koch is no exception. In this case, you just need to add a glass of any berries to the standard set of products. The amount of other ingredients remains the same. For work, as usual, requires: a deep bowl, mixer and a rectangular baking dish. The semi-finished product is prepared in the usual way. And after the dough is in shape, on top of it you just need to pour the washed and dried berries. During baking, they can let the juice go. This is very good, as fresh pulp as a result acquires an additional pronounced flavor of berries, which goes well with a delicate creamy aroma. The following are the usual pouring, impregnating and cooling procedures. To the table, such a dessert can be served in a plate along with pieces of fresh berries or fruits. It will be even tastier if you pour them with some sweet syrup.
Multicooker Recipe
How else can I cook Serbian koch? A multicooker recipe is also available. True, this work takes a little longer. But the device guarantees a good result and eliminates any possibility of error. Although, in fact, the procedure itself remains the same. You will need a similar set of products:
For the test: 100 grams of sugar, 6 eggs, a teaspoon of baking powder, as well as 4 tablespoons of flour and semolina.
For filling: for 450 milliliters of milk 1 gram of vanillin and 75 grams of sugar.
Process technology:
- First, flour should be mixed with semolina and baking powder.
- Then egg whites should be beaten with a mixer into a stable foam.
- Continuing mixing, add the yolks one at a time. The volume of the mixture should double in this case.
- Dry ingredients are gradually introduced into the cooked mass. In this case, mixing is best done with a regular spoon. It is necessary to act carefully so that the proteins do not settle.
- Transfer the finished dough into the greased bowl of the multicooker and install the βBakingβ program. After 65 minutes, the mannik will be ready. The hostess will be notified of this by a timer signal.
- Prepare the fill. To do this, dissolve the remaining ingredients in hot milk.
- Pour the pie with the resulting syrup without removing it from the bowl. As soon as all the moisture is absorbed, it will need to be removed and put in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.
A piece of delicate dessert with a rich creamy aroma and pleasant delicate taste will be a good addition to Sunday tea party.
