History
The Bashkir State Puppet Theater was founded in 1932, on February 5. Artists then did not yet have their own building, so they had to work on temporary sites. M. Yelgashtina became not only the first director, but also the first director of the puppet theater in Ufa. The first performance was the beloved "Turnip".
Two groups were formed in the theater: Russian and Bashkir. The latter was mobile, and its performances were mainly of an agitational nature: "Negro", "Sanitary Brigade", "Spring Sowing", "Toward Lenin."
When V. Sidurin became the director of the puppet theater in Ufa, a permanent stage for performances finally appeared, which is located in the basement of the Pioneer House.
During the war years, the male part of the troupe had to go to the front to defend the homeland. Small theater teams during the war years gave satirical performances in hospitals and at the front. With the outbreak of war, the theater not only did not stop its activities, but became even more active. The troupe performed in Ufa and in other cities of the Republic.
The Karelian front also became a stage for artists in 1944. In a short time were prepared the numbers "Hitler's Dream", "Surgery". However, a decree was soon issued to create a specific repertoire for front-line puppet brigades. The performances were staged on the "Collection of pop and puppet plays."
This theater is one of the first that began to show performances for adults. At one time, one could enjoy productions such as The White Steamboat, Alderman by T. Minullin, The Devil's Mill by I. Stock and others.
In the postwar years, new people appeared in the theater. The director I. Arngold, the artists Volkov, A. Stobov worked here.
Theater today
The theater received its modern building only in 1976. At the same time, theater staff actively worked on the creation of the Bashkir drama. Plots could be taken from Russian, Bashkir and folklore. The dolls were created by the artists of the wife Volkova.
