Biography

Actress from Minsk

Born on April 8, 1976 in the Belarusian city of Minsk. Svetlana's parents were from the work environment. The future actress lost her mother very early, her father was engaged in her upbringing, who at that time had to work long and long for the family to live in abundance. From a very young age, she dreamed of acting in films and going on the stage, but, as a child, she was not quite aware of how they became artists.

Having received a certificate of secondary education, Svetlana Kozhemyakina entered the screenwriting department at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, having managed to get married by then. Svetlana says that she was very surprised by her husband, who returned from a trip to Europe when she announced to him her transition from the faculty of scriptwriters to acting. She notes at the same time that other relatives and friends were shocked by her sudden “retraining”.

At first, the Belarusian actress starred almost exclusively in domestic projects, occasionally portraying episode heroines in Russian TV shows. The chance helped her to get the main role in the television serial film of the Russian production “Fortune telling by candlelight”. According to Svetlana Kozhemyakina, before the start of the shooting of this television picture, which was carried out in Minsk, it turned out that the Russian actress appointed as the performer of the role of Lyudmila would not be able to take part in this project because of her illness. An urgent casting was organized, at which all local actresses of the appropriate age for this role were browsed. The organizers of this show then considered Svetlana the most worthy candidate. The actress recalls that she was immensely happy when she was approved for the main role in this series.

After the filming of the aforementioned series was finished, the producer Anatoly Chizhikov approached the actress and told Svetlana Kozhemyakina that he had planned a project about opera ”and invited her to come to Moscow when the casting of the film began to take part in it. Svetlana says that she did not take this proposal seriously, considering that it was "just a word" then.

But soon she received a script for this picture, and then a telephone conversation took place with representatives of the film company, who asked her to come to participate in the selection for the role of one of the main characters. The casting took place, but Svetlana was approved for the role only two months later, when it turned out that she “looks good” in a duet with actor Sergei Puskepalis. Thus, she managed to join the actors of the Witness Protection project.

About family

Actress Svetlana Kozhemyakina says that one of the children's roles in Protecting Witnesses was offered to play white for her son Matthew, who at that time was 8 years old. According to her, Matvey really liked in St. Petersburg, where the series was filmed. In her free time, Svetlana and her son made boat trips and watched the bridges being drawn. The Belarusian actress noted that, despite the fact that her son received a fee for his first acting job and bought a designer with this money, he is not going to connect his life with cinema yet. He is fond of drawing and strives to become either an engineer or an architect, which only pleases Svetlana.
