Jane Alexander (Quigley) is an American actress and head of the United States National Arts Foundation. She is a two-time winner of the Emmy Award and winner of the Tony Award. At the moment, Jane Alexander is 78 years old.
Biography
Miss Jane Alexander was born on October 28, 1939 in Boston, Massachusetts, in the family of nurse Ruth Elizabeth and orthopedic surgeon Thomas Quigley. She graduated from Beaver Country Day and continued her studies at the girls' school in Chestnut Hill, in the suburbs of Boston, where Jane Alexander discovered her talent and love for acting.
The father of the future actress insisted that her daughter graduate before becoming an actress. So Jane Alexander entered Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, specializing in Mathematics and Computer Programming, where she attended a theater group.
In her youth, Jane studied at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, where she joined the Dramatic Society of the University of Edinburgh. This experience reinforced her desire to become an actress.
Personal life
Jane met her first husband Robert Alexander in the early sixties in New York, where they both began an acting career. In 1964, their son Jace was born, but after ten years the couple broke up.
A few years later, Jane Alexander began a relationship with the artistic director of the Arena Stage Theater, Edwin Sherin, with whom they worked together on the play Great White Hope. In 1975, the couple became engaged, and Jane adopted her husband's children: Tony, Joffi, and John.
