Autonomic dysfunction syndrome in adults and children: symptoms and treatment

To date, the most common disease among somatic has become the syndrome of autonomic dysfunction (SVD), more familiar as vegetative-vascular dystonia.

Doctors still can not decide which specialist should constantly monitor patients with this syndrome - a therapist (if we are talking about an adult), a pediatrician (in children), a psychiatrist, neurologist, endocrinologist or cardiologist. This is due to the fact that a patient with this disease usually has many different complaints.

The causes of the disease can be heredity, chronic diseases of the heart and blood vessels, endocrine system, nervous system, pregnancy and childbirth problems that involve brain damage, physical inactivity and chronic stress.

Very often, autonomic dysfunction syndrome occurs against a background of neurosis. As a result of extreme stress, the traumatic situation is unknowingly squeezed out by the human psyche, and as a result of this displacement, a neurotic state manifests itself, very often β€œbeating” against internal organs.

How is vegetative dystonia syndrome manifested?

  • Cardiovascular Syndrome. In other words, cardiovascular. The patient has a violation of the heart rhythm in the form of tachycardia, bradycardia or extrasystole, pressure surges, pallor or marbling of the skin, and often limbs become colder. I periodically cause discomfort in the area of the heart aching pain, not associated with stress.
  • Hyperventilation syndrome. A person does not have enough air, breathing quickens, and too much carbon dioxide is removed from the blood, resulting in dizziness, muscle cramps and loss of sensation in the limbs and around the mouth.
  • Irritable bowel syndrome. Frequent urination, abdominal pain, bloating, nausea and vomiting.
  • Violation of thermoregulation. This syndrome is more common in children and is manifested by chills or an unreasonable fever.
  • Children have sleep disturbances, fatigue, weather sensitivity and a tendency to frequent colds and allergies.

More often than not, SVD is manifested in heart problems. In general, this disease is quite difficult to diagnose, so the patient is sent immediately to several specialists to collect data on the work of his body. An electrocardiogram is required to check the heart rate and cardiointervalography.

Treatment of autonomic dysfunction syndrome

Vegetative dysfunction syndrome in children disrupts the work of many internal organs. As a result of it, dyskinesia of the gastrointestinal tract, urogenital system develops, changes in the work of the heart and blood vessels occur. If autonomic dysfunction of the nervous system syndrome is not treated and its prevention is not involved, then over time it can develop into more familiar diseases - urolithiasis, hypertension, cholelithiasis. Thus, we understand that all adult problems originate in infancy and childhood. Therefore, SVD must be treated seriously and comprehensively. There are also non-drug treatments. These include:

  1. Nutrition, normalization of the day. Must sleep at least eight hours a day
  2. Three-hour walks on the street, prevention of a sedentary lifestyle
  3. Swimming, hardening
  4. Acupuncture, electrosleep, physiotherapy
  5. Limit emotional and intellectual stress
  6. Adults should adhere to a healthy lifestyle, give up smoking and alcohol, and you can also start breathing exercises or yoga.

If you have heard from the pediatrician such a diagnosis as vegetative dystonia syndrome (vegetative-vascular dystonia), do not start to buy medicine, but try to first review the daily regimen and diet of the baby. And only if this does not work, you will have to treat the child with medication under the supervision of a doctor.
