How dangerous is the presence of caseous plugs in the throat?

Probably everyone had to deal with pain and discomfort in the throat at least once. A commonplace, it would seem, cold causes swelling of the mucous membranes of the sore throat. Nerve endings begin to get irritated more and more, there is perspiration, pain appears. The acute process with strong immunity is treated quickly in normal (home) conditions by rinsing. But far from always self-medication ends safely. Often begins the development of such diseases of the pharynx as laryngitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, and already in a chronic form. Among the symptoms of these diseases, one can distinguish a feeling of a coma in the throat, the smell of rot coming from the mouth, an unpleasant aftertaste. If you try to examine the throat in front of the mirror, on the side walls you will notice yellowish curdling tiny lumps. These are caseous plugs in the throat. Photos are presented in the article.

Caseous plugs

Is it dangerous?

This is worth mentioning separately. The presence of caseous plugs usually indicates tonsillitis, and the acute form often in the absence of proper and proper treatment becomes chronic, which is reflected in the future on the kidneys, heart, and blood composition in general. In completely neglected cases, one can even talk about blood poisoning.

Perpetrators of problems (caseous plugs) appear from the tonsils (in the common people - tonsils) as a result of the accumulation of lymphoid tissue. Moreover, only a small part of the formations is visible, the rest is hidden in the depths. Even a person who is far from medicine understands how serious the inflammation process can actually be. The presence of purulent caseous plugs indicates desquamated epithelium, "dead" white blood cells, and clusters of dangerous putrefactive microbes.

To treat or not to treat?

Sometimes the patient is offered radical measures, namely tonsillectomy. Palatine tonsils are removed surgically. However, this measure is extreme, because it leads to a violation of the natural defense mechanisms of the pharynx and a violation of the anatomy as a whole. In addition, the removal of tonsils complicates the further treatment of almost all colds.

The formation of caseous plugs is a protective reaction of the body to infections penetrating from the nose, and an increase in lymph nodes, in turn, indicates the degree of aggressiveness of these infections. Removal of tonsils increases the threat to the lungs, the throat becomes many times drier, the pain during inflammation is stronger. Moreover, this whole set is guaranteed to accompany you for life. Trimming tonsils will reduce the protective activity of the body. Attempting mechanical abrasion (or scraping) leads to even more irritation. This does not exactly solve the problem, since it causes a new growth of accumulations of pus.

Seeing the root

In many hospitals, the disease is treated by washing with special drugs, sea salt, herbal extracts. Sometimes such measures help. But it is worth remembering that the problem lies in the diseases of the nose, and not the throat, since an infection spreads from it, leading to the appearance of caseous plugs. Treatment should begin with eliminating the source of infection. Therefore, you need to start with the nose. The selection of medicines is purely individual and is prescribed by a doctor.
