There are not so many comedies about the prison as it seems. There is a small proportion of tragedy in them.
Own
Not many will remember domestic comedies about prison. American stories are more firmly entrenched in memory. We only remember our own on New Year's Eve, when comedies were provided with all the television airtime. In the Russian box office "High Security Vacation" distinguished themselves.
The plot of the film is mostly developed outside the prison. Heroes of Dmitry Dyuzhev and Sergei Bezrukov escape. Complete opposites to each other, a former policeman and recidivist, are trying to hide the thieves' common fund and hide from prosecution. They enter the children's camp under the guise of counselors. Brave heroes manage to expose real criminals and make excuses.
New - well forgotten old
The second Russian film about the prison, which was released recently, was the comedy “Gentlemen, Good Luck!”. The film was shot by the same team as the famous "Fir-trees". He became a kind of continuation of the old Soviet comedy about prison. The picture partially repeats the plot of the Soviet film, but only at first glance. The hero not only helps to find criminals, but also receives love as a gift. Again, a whole galaxy of wonderful artists, led by Sergey Bezrukov, took part in the filming, which cannot but please the Russian audience. With this wonderful actor, two comedies about prison were released. The list of his roles is huge.
The old film "Gentlemen of Fortune" is still watched by viewers. Fights, theft of a golden helmet, escape, chase, fire, surveillance, dressed as a double - all this is a Soviet movie. The old film will give odds to many foreign films in terms of brightness and richness of the plot. Comedy is also distinguished by a humanistic view of stumbled people - criminals show human qualities, they are able to re-educate.
Dashing 90s
If you want to speculate about the attitude towards prisoners among them and with us, you should watch the sensational film “I want to go to prison”, which was sensational in the 90s. The life of the protagonist takes place at the very bottom and becomes so unbearable that he seeks to voluntarily go to prison, but not ours, but the Dutch. In the end, the hero of Mikhail Ilyin changes his worldview and returns to his homeland.
And here is another film of a bygone era - "The High Security Comedy", filmed back in 1992. The picture became a real storehouse of winged phrases and jokes in the spirit of the time. A certain parody of the history of a state that has ceased to exist is captured in the picture. The prisoners are preparing a play about Lenin, simultaneously organizing an escape. With typical dark times in dashing humor, the picture tells that life flows behind bars. Perhaps, for the first time in his career, Viktor Sukhorukov flashed in the film. His role is doubly successful, since in the story his hero plays Lenin in a prison performance. Fortunately, the brash escape to the heroes fails, because they are all plot-wise criminals, although not without charm.
Comedy about the prison. American adventures
Unlike our cinema, which modestly circumvented a delicate topic, Hollywood exploits the story about the prison in black. What twists and turns of fate do not present us with American films about prison. Comedies are filled with drama, in the films there are tricks, special effects, and most importantly - an unexpected outcome.
Probably the comedy “The Great Wall”, in which the short hero becomes the head of the prisoners, can be considered the most famous plot. The petty fraudster had to master martial arts in order to protect himself from the attacks of his cellmates. Only the actor and director of the picture, Rob Schneider, knows what it cost him.
It is impossible to forget the adventures of
Leslie Nielsen in the comedy Naked Gun 33 and One-Third. Other Hollywood paintings are based on the classic postulate: "stole, drank, to prison." Freedom-loving Americans add to this principle: escaped. Everyone runs in the pictures:
- The Fugitives
- “Grab the money and dump”;
- "Psychos in the jail";
In the comedy about prison “For Life”, the director’s imagination was played out in earnest. Only dark-skinned stars of American cinema, great love and strong friendship. In the pictures about the prison, the most famous also appeared. Jim Carrey starred in the movie "I Love You, Philip Maurice." Keanu Reeves annealed in a mystery comedy about the prison "Criminal chip from Henry." The film “Let's go to prison” claims to be the most unusual plot. The dramatic comedy “Cellmates” talks about the re-education of a terry racist with the help of a Latin American freedom fighter. Of course, the plot takes place in prison.
United Kingdom
In the film "The Bonebreaker" two storylines came together - prison and football. The main character must lead the prison team to victory, despite the fact that the corrupt authorities in every way prevent this. Great British actors and a dynamic Hollywood story with a happy ending ending all the jail comedies. Foreign films are not always distinguished by flat, toilet humor. The victory of good over evil is what you need to cheer you up.
Italy and Germany
Italians and Germans do not lag behind the British. Geniuses of subtle humor and irony, the Italians back in 1996 made a series of films about Fantozzi. The hero of the film “The Return of Fantozzi” goes to jail. The magnificent Italian comedians will not leave anyone indifferent. The Germans, with their inherent seriousness, filmed a thriller with a very unexpected denouement in the spirit of a "black comedy". The film "Fay Grim" is little known, but fans of paintings with deep philosophical implications, like the film "Knocking on Heaven", would have liked it.
No matter what skeptics say, comedies about prison are, first of all, funny films that set us up for positive things, give birth to faith in ourselves and our strengths.
