The first musical theater of the city
There is an opera and ballet theater since 1912. His first performance was the opera Life for the Tsar by Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka. The first ballet production - “The Magic Flute” (R. Drigo). In the 20s of the 20th century, the theater gained popularity and became known throughout the country, gaining the glory of one of the best in Russia. Conductor Kirill Tikhonov began to work here. He became one of the founders of the Helikon Opera Theater in Moscow. Another conductor is Evgeny Kolobov. Musical comedy theater
Theaters of Yekaterinburg offer spectators completely different genres. Opera, ballet, musical, operetta, drama, dolls ... One of the most popular theaters is Music Comedy. It exists since 1933. In that year, the city leadership decided that Yekaterinburg (then Sverdlovsk) needed another theater that would be called upon to entertain, to allow the working people to have an interesting rest. The genre of musical comedy was considered the most suitable for this. Leonid Lucker, a young actor in the drama theater, was appointed director. At the beginning of the career, great help to the Sverdlovsk Musical Comedy came from eminent directors, artists, choreographers, stage designers from St. Petersburg (then Leningrad) and Moscow. The troupe was assembled from young actors, including soloists from the city on the Neva were invited, some of them remained in Yekaterinburg.

The premiere performance of the Sverdlovsk Theater of Musical Comedy is the American operetta G. Stotgardt and R. Friml “Rose-Marie”. With great success, she walked since 1924 on Broadway.
