In the early 90s, the whole country, with bated breath, enthusiastically began to watch the series, radically different from the usual protracted Latin American soap operas. It was an American mystical serial film "Twin Peaks", which really excited the minds of different generations. And perhaps the most pressing issue of the time was the question of who killed Laura Palmer.
The action takes place in a small town called Twin Peaks, located near the Canadian border. A local fisherman, who enjoyed fishing in a small river every morning, found a corpse wrapped in polyethylene on the shore. Frightened, he calls the sheriff. He arrives with his assistants and, opening a terrible bundle, discovers that the body belongs to a local beauty, the daughter of a lawyer respected in the city, seventeen-year-old Laura Palmer. Of course, the beginning of the film “smacks of” a banal detective, but everything turned out to be not so simple. Almost until the denouement, no one knows who killed Laura Palmer. The death of this girl allowed to penetrate into the most terrible secrets that kept the town and the gloomy forests surrounding it. The film is so riddled with mysterious and inexplicable events that even after the end of its viewing, the feeling that everything is just beginning does not leave.
A lot, but not all, explains the secret diary of Laura Palmer, which the police and girl friends are looking for throughout the series. The book of the same name formed the basis of the full-length prequel "Twin Peaks: Fire, come with me." Based on the entries in the diary, it may seem that the girl could have avoided death if, as a child, she had not accidentally found her parents making love. It can be assumed that she was so shocked by this picture that the resulting stress served her as a kind of “split personality”. After all, it was after this moment that Bob began to come to her, who mocked her, accustoming to pain and preparing for death. Laura Palmer (photo) wrote in her diary that Bob wants to get her soul, otherwise he will continue to torture and rape her.
For several years, the girl lives, torn by pain, which drugs and sex help to stifle a little. With all this, she has not yet completely degraded: there is still room in her soul for kindness and the desire to help her neighbors. She came up with and brought to life the idea of “Dinners on wheels” (transporting food to older people); she taught English to Chinese owner Josie, the owner of a local sawmill; she was a nurse for the 26-year-old dumb Johnny - the son of a local tycoon Benjamin Horn. In addition, she was a smart girl, an excellent student and a recognized beauty. So it just didn’t fit my mind, who killed Laura Palmer? Who was able to take the life of this wonderful girl?
Even when it becomes clear that her own father turned out to be the killer, a whole bunch of unsolved mysteries remain. Did her father really kill her? Or to be
maybe it was Bob who instilled in him - a kind of dark entity from the
other world? He wanted to get hooked into Laura's body in order to continue to kill, as he had done for over a hundred years. But the girl chose to die. She did not care what he was doing with her body, but she wanted to save her soul, and therefore she allowed him to kill herself.
Despite the fact that the series is already more than 20 years old, it still remains almost the most mysterious in the history of cinema, as it has already become rhetorical, the question of who killed Laura Palmer.
