When a Belarusian group with a comical name appeared in September 1989, they borrowed it from the hack poet N. Lyapis, who chose the sonorous pseudonym Trubetskoy, from the novel “Twelve Chairs”, no one foresaw that the musicians would make such a splash and for many years to come to please your fans with such an incendiary repertoire.
Michalok
The group “Lyapis Trubetskoy” was led by student Sergei Mikhalok, who from childhood showed creative talent. He then studied at the Institute of Culture, and the members of this punk rock group together most often could be seen only at concerts. And that first composition also included D. Sviridovich - bass player, R. Vladyko - guitarist, A. Lyubavin - drums.
How it all began?
For the first time the group loudly announced itself at the festival "Three colors". After the musicians successfully performed in the capital’s Teacher’s House along with others, where the festival marathon of the same musical groups took place, they began to seriously rehearse.
Maybe everything would have turned out differently, but, as you know, talents need to be promoted. And in 1994, a meeting was held with E. Kolmykov, who appreciated the creativity and enthusiasm of the guys, offered them money if they performed on a show to be held on the territory of the recreation center of the tractor plant.
Then another significant event happened - for the first time the group went on their tour with the rock opera “Space Conquest”. Theater “Bamboos” traveled with musicians, in which, as in the Japanese theater “Kabuki”, only men played, and the leader was S. Mikhalok.
Gradually, musicians become more and more famous, participate in various festivals along with popular groups.
To bring joy to their fans, they decide to release their own cassette using the recording from their performance at the Alternative Theater. They released it, deciding to name “Love kapets!”, Then a collection will appear under the same name, and it will be already 1998. But so far, out of a hundred tapes, they managed to sell no more than 20.
In 1995, all the members of the Lyapis Trubetskoy group were not particularly engaged in creativity, small changes occurred in the line-up, now V. Bashkov was a bass player. But the following year, during a concert performance at the Chess Palace, a fateful meeting with E. Kravtsov took place. He suggested recording a band at Mezzo Forte Studios.
But before, a trumpeter, a violinist, a horn, and another guitar appeared in Lyapis Trubetskoy. This decision was successful, as evidenced by such a fact. The album, entitled "Wounded Heart," was immediately sold out - all 200 cassettes. Then they were sold in thousand copies.
Then there was a presentation in the Minsk Trade Unions House of the program “Smyarotnay Vyaselle”, and the hall did not accommodate all the fans, because many stood in the hallway, and on the street a large crowd was eager to at least see their idols. That was October 4, 1996.
But the closer to the end of the year, the more dissatisfied the fans of the group with its creative successes.
However, the musicians still did not allow disappointment, having won several prestigious awards at Rock Coronation-96 at once, proving that they are the best group with the best album of the year and the best author of texts.
In 1996, already in Moscow, the next album was recorded - “You Threw”. Not all songs are new in it. And at the end of 1997, the first clip was shot using plasticine animation.
The group is actively touring not only in the cities of Belarus, but also in Russia. These are not lovers, but real professionals
In 1998, active work is underway to release another album. It is called "Beauty." But at the same time, the tour does not end, a new album is being recorded, which has the working title “Heavy”.
Along the way, the group creates an association designed to advertise positive music that gives a good mood to everyone. The association is called "Children of the Sun."
2000s
In 2001, according to many critics, one of the group’s best albums was released - Youth. In April 2004, an album appeared, loved by many fans - "Golden Eggs", soundtracks were actively recorded.
The musicians were pleased with the recital in the club "Orange", performed their compositions, both new and old. This event took place on November 25, 2005.
And in 2007, for a successful clip, the group received a prize at RAMP, in 2009 new significant awards - ZD-Awards, "Chart Dozen", etc. And work is constantly ongoing on new albums, numerous concerts are held.
Decay
However, it all ended on March 17, 2014, when S. Mikhalok announced that the group no longer exists. Officially, this information was confirmed on August 31. The songs of Lapis Trubetskoy are legends.
