Jennifer Jane Saunders is an English comedian, screenwriter, singer and actress. She won three prestigious BAFTA awards, won an Emmy three times, won the Writers' Guild of Great Britain twice and won the People's Choice Awards.

Jennifer Saunders first attracted the attention of the general public in the 1980s when she became a member of the comedy club The Comic Strip, in which she began performing immediately after completing her studies at a theater institute in London. Saunders gained worldwide acclaim in the 1990s for her role in the British sitcom One More.

The comedy group appeared in the first episode of Comic Strip Presents: Five Go Mad In Dorset, which aired on television on November 2, 1982.

In 1985, Saunders was the creator and performer of one of the main roles in the sitcom Girls on Top. The plot of the sitcom is based on the life story of four eccentric women who together share an apartment in London. Saunders also starred in Supergrass, a little-known parody of the 1980s Friday police dramas directed by Peter Richardson.

In 1987, Jennifer Saunders and Don French created the popular comedy series French and Saunders, which aired until 2007. The couple continued their successful collaboration, and at the same time they were engaged in their solo careers.
