Sailing away, he hinted to everyone for the fourth part, but it was never removed. But he left a legacy. âThe Bourne Legacyâ - thatâs exactly what the spin-offs of the legendary franchise about another agent who left the US Department of Defense labs are actually called. Well, evolution is so evolution.
Heir to Bourne
It turns out that while the CIA was working on the Treadstone project, preparing hired killers, the Department of Defense went even further and launched the Outcom program. Only agents from there came stronger, because they ate special pills for muscle development and mental activity. The project was only losing in that when the experimental subjects stopped taking the drug, their vital functions stopped.
Frightened by the repetition of the fate of the CIA, a team is recruited with the goal of completely eliminating Outcom. At this time, one of their agents - Aaron Cross, who has been living in the mountains for a long time, is witnessing the killing of his own kind. Realizing that his next turn, he is staging his own death, and after a while he ends up in America.
And then the cleaning is in full swing. In the laboratory, one of the scientists kills his colleagues, after which he says goodbye to his life. True, Dr. Martha Schering remains alive, which Aaron soon saves safely from killers. And apparently, not in vain, she has good news for him. The fact is that muscle stimulants (green pills) are no longer needed, they were canceled a year ago. He can now produce them himself. It remains to cancel the stimulants for the brain (blue pills). Only this can be done in a special laboratory, which is located in the Philippines. Therefore, a couple went there.
Why Aaron Cross?
Yes, if only because a new director, Tony Gilroy, was engaged in the picture. Paul Greengrass, who shot the last two parts, went headlong to work on another film, which, incidentally, did not even return the money spent on it. As a result, Universal suffered heavy losses. Naturally, this was forgiven him, referring to previous merits, and therefore offered to continue the adventure of Bourne. But apparently, he refused.
But Tony Gilroy agreed. Moreover, he worked on the script for the three previous films. Therefore, he grabbed the opportunity to put the âEvolutionâ with both hands. But there were some difficulties, Matt Damon left with Greengrass, which means that he will have to look for a new person to play the role of super agent. It was necessary to make a difficult choice: either shoot a sequel with another actor, or tell a story about a new agent. Of course, you can sway at restarting the franchise, but that would be too risky.
As a result, it was decided to remove the original spin-offs. Jeremy Renner was chosen for the role of the main experimental (Outcom), and soon the Bourne Evolution appeared at the box office. Actors, at least some of those that were seen in the previous parts, also received roles in the new picture.

Separately, it is worth mentioning the crew. Robert Elleswith became the operator of the picture. By that time he already had an Oscar, received in 2008 for the drama Oil. Many claimed the role of Aaron Cross, but Jeremy Renner turned out to be the most worthy. He was suitable by age, because in the film the agent had already exceeded thirty. Although film critics were too cautious about this picture, because of which its rating did not rise much above the middle of the 100-point scale, in general, the film turned out to be very spectacular.
