The drug "Tebantin" application instructions refers to the group of anticonvulsants. Its action is aimed at the treatment of epilepsy. This medication is used inside, is characterized by rapid absorption. The maximum content of active active substance in the blood is reached within three hours after taking the medicine (moreover, this indicator does not depend on the dose). With regular use of the drug in question, this period decreases to one hour. In the course of studies, it was found that the bioavailability of the drug with an increase in its volume decreases. It also turned out that eating (including fatty) does not significantly affect the absorption of the drug.

Gebapentin (the main active ingredient) is characterized by low binding to plasma proteins (less than three percent).

The drug "Tebantin", the instruction informs, regardless of the dose taken, has a half-life of five to seven hours. In an unchanged form, this medication is excreted through the kidneys. During hemodialysis, it is removed from the blood.

If partial convulsions are observed in adult patients and children over twelve, the optimal antiepileptic effect is achieved with the use of nine hundred to one thousand two hundred milligrams of the drug in question per day. The maximum therapeutic effect is manifested after two to three days after the start of the medication.

The following are two standard dosage regimens:

1. On the first day - three hundred milligrams of the drug, on the second - twice as much, on the third - nine hundred milligrams). On the fourth day, the volume can be increased to one thousand two hundred milligrams.

2. On the first day - nine hundred milligrams of the drug (in the presence of intense pain), on the second - one thousand two hundred.

The drug “Tebantin” (instructions for use contains this information) can be prescribed as an additional therapeutic agent for children aged three to twelve years (whose body weight does not exceed seventeen kilograms). In this case, the standard daily amount of medication is 25-35 milligrams per kilogram of weight.

The drug Tebantin, the instructions for use of which describes the therapeutic effect it has, is contraindicated in children under three years of age. It is also not prescribed for small patients from three to twelve as the only therapeutic agent, since there is not enough data on its safety and effectiveness for this category of people.

Patients with insufficient weight, a weakened body, or undergoing an organ transplant, are strictly not recommended to increase the daily dose of the drug by more than one hundred milligrams at a time.

The drug “Tebantin”, reviews of which confirm its effectiveness, can cause drowsiness, dizziness, amnesia, depression, rhinitis, arthralgia and other undesirable consequences.
