“Probably, the metabolism is impaired,” someone will say, looking after a painfully fat man, and all around will nod their heads knowingly and sympathetically. But is it really that everyone understands the essence of the problem? Does everyone have an idea about what processes are happening in our body? And, most importantly, does everyone know why and why is this very metabolic disorder?
You can compare a person with a living chemical plant, only at any chemical plant there are not as many production processes as there are inside our body. All the substances that enter it and are contained in it, continuously interact, undergo reactions, as a result of which the energy necessary for life is generated, tissue is updated, blood is saturated with nutrients, and harmful wastes are removed to the outside. This whole complex process is called metabolism or, scientifically, metabolism.
However, not one, even the most advanced, system can always function smoothly and without failures. There are malfunctions in our body. If you do not go into the wilds, then you can imagine the metabolism as two main processes - destruction and restoration. When they are in balance, then everything goes fine. If the processes of decay of energy production gain the upper hand, then a person loses weight, and in the case when accumulative, construction processes prevail, he begins to gain excess weight.
But because of what, one of the scales suddenly starts to outweigh? There are a lot of reasons that result in metabolic disorders. One of the main factors is heredity, which is why full parents often have chubby kids, and vice versa, thinness becomes a family trait. Improperly organized nutrition that does not correspond to the energy consumption leads to failure, as does the lack of any trace elements, vitamins, fatty and amino acids. Due to external influences, the body can be poisoned with toxic substances or heavy metals, which can also cause metabolic disorders.
It is a mistake to think that all problems of the body occur on their own, without our direct participation. Moreover, with our lifestyle, habits, and rash acts, we ourselves provoke a metabolic disorder. Symptoms in such cases are often so obvious that others sometimes wonder: what can you bring yourself to! The most obvious example - anorexia - is when people, for fear of getting fat or out of a desire to achieve a “model” appearance, exhaust themselves with starvation and physical stress, resulting in complete exhaustion. Another painful extreme is bulimia, in which a person constantly experiences a painful feeling of hunger and indulges in uncontrolled gluttony. He himself is not happy, he even tries to induce vomiting after eating so as not to get fat, but weight control is already beyond his control.
However, experts believe that in many cases, metabolic disorders are provoked by life disturbances, in addition to human desires, at a subconscious level. The same anorexia and bulimia can be a reaction to family problems - food becomes a substitute for relationships, and giving it up is a form of protest. Metabolic disorders can cause stressful situations, emotional upheaval, social problems - everything that goes beyond the usual life.
A large number of so-called metabolic diseases are known - this is diabetes, and hypercholesterolemia, and gout, and obesity, and phenylketonuria, and diffuse goiter, and others. Pathologies can be caused by dysfunctions of various organs - the thyroid gland, pituitary gland, genital glands, and adrenal glands. In addition to weight disorders, the characteristic symptoms are unhealthy skin, swelling, weakening of the hair and nail plates. By and large, each case of the disease is individual, so there can be no talk of any self-diagnosis and self-treatment - a visit to an endocrinologist is required.
Because of whatever metabolic disorder occurs, treatment should begin with a diagnosis. Whether the doctor reveals the disease or comes to the conclusion about the psychological root of the problem, the further rehabilitation process, which can be long and difficult, will depend on this. Diseases of genetic origin require that the patient is constantly monitored by a doctor and undergo regular therapy. But acquired ailments can often be stopped even in the early stages, which will require the use of cleansing drugs, the introduction of substances in which the body is deficient, and strict adherence to a special diet.
Prevention of metabolic disorders consists in tuning the body to accurate work - developing a daily regimen and a balanced diet. And do not mix it up: you need to have breakfast without fail, since it starts the metabolic processes, but you can’t eat at night - the sleeping body can’t work on metabolism “not with your hands”.
