Dalacin gel - instructions

Dosage form: has the form of a transparent, colorless, viscous mass. The active substance clindamycin refers to lincosamides, a variety of antibiotics.

Dalacin gel - effect on the body

When applied to the skin, the cream begins to act by increasing the activity of phosphatases, which are hydrolyzed and form a clindamycin with a pronounced antibacterial effect on the sebaceous ducts of the skin. The drug is effective for the treatment of acne vulgaris - for all studied strains. Propionibacterium acnes is sensitive to this antibiotic. The effect of dalacin gel is such that when a small amount of gel is applied to the skin with acne vulgaris, the amount of free fatty acids is reduced by seven times: from 14% to 2%.

Pharmacokinetic mechanisms of action of dalacin-gel

With external use of the drug "Dalacin gel" there are minimal concentrations of the antibiotic in the blood serum and urine. If the patient suffers from acne vulgaris with pronounced comedones, then he is shown the use of this remedy. When applying dalacin gel on the surface of comedones, the antibiotic is absorbed into the acne contents, and during treatment for 4 weeks, the average concentration of clindamycin will be 597 mg / g, which is one third of the pimple content.

A contraindication to the use of dalacin gel is hypersensitivity not only to the antibiotic, but also to other components of the drug.

Dalacin gel can be used during pregnancy if the expected improvement in skin condition is higher than the possible risks to the fetus. If a woman is breast-feeding a baby, it is not recommended to use a cream with clindamycin, since it is found in breast milk after ingestion. And whether it is excreted in milk after application of the gel is still unknown, but it is better not to risk it.

Possible side effect of the drug

Most often, there is a feeling of dry skin, less often - disorders of the gastrointestinal tract (vomiting, nausea, diarrhea), contact dermatitis and skin irritation, inflammation of the follicles caused by the action of pathogenic flora, increased production of sebaceous glands.

In case of accidental ingestion of dalacin gel into the stomach, side effects are possible that are similar to those that occur after oral administration of clindamycin. To reduce the effect, supportive and symptomatic treatment is performed.

Apply dalacin gel externally. A thin layer is applied to the cleaned skin in the affected area twice a day. The full course is 6-8 weeks.

Precautionary measures

When using the drug, avoid getting the gel in the oral cavity and on the mucous membranes of the eyes. You need to wash your hands after applying the gel, when the drug comes in contact with sensitive places (abrasions, mucous membranes, eyes), rinse this area with plenty of water.

Clindamycin can cause colitis and severe diarrhea. For external use, such situations are rare. But if diarrhea appears, then the use of the drug is better to cancel.

The use of dalacin gel does not affect psychomotor functions and does not interfere with working with mechanisms or driving a car.

Dalacin gel, reviews of which are mostly good, is recommended by many dermatologists. If you use any means similar in effect to dalacin, tell your doctor about this - he will give the necessary recommendations on all issues.
