The drug "Cerucal" is included in the group of antiemetic drugs. The action of the drug is based on the blocking of central dopamine receptors. It has an antiemetic effect, stops hiccups and suppresses nausea. Regulates and normalizes the functions of the gastrointestinal tract, accelerates the transit of gastric contents.

  • disorders in the upper digestive system in the form of heartburn, reflux esophagitis, pylorospasm, irritable bowel syndrome ;
  • bouts of nausea, urge to vomit;
  • with vomiting, which is a consequence of diseases of the liver, kidneys, skull injuries, brain pathology, an allergic reaction to medications;
  • atony of the stomach, especially with diabetic neuropathy;
  • duodenal sounding of the intestine (duodenum and thin);
  • X-ray examination of the walls of the stomach, small intestine with a preliminary passage of a contrast medium.

The drug "Cerucal", dosage instructions

Adults and children from 14 years of age are prescribed by mouth 10 mg of the drug 3-4 times a day, no more than 10 mg once, the maximum daily dose is 40 mg. At the same dosage, the drug can be administered intravenously or intramuscularly.

The course of treatment is from four to six weeks, and in complicated cases - up to six months.

For children from 3 to 14 years, a single dose is reduced, it is 0.1 mg per 1 kg, the maximum daily dose is 0.5 mg / kg.

The drug is taken 30 minutes before a meal.

  1. Central nervous system: some patients report fatigue, headache, dizziness, unreasonable fear or anxiety; children rarely develop dyskinesia. Elderly patients as a result of prolonged use of the drug in doses exceeding the standard ones are at risk of developing tardive dyskinesias, akathisia and other parkinson-like disorders.
  2. Endocrinology: in very rare cases, as a result of prolonged use of the drug in patients, prolactin levels may increase, in women there is a shift in the menstrual cycle.

- mechanical obstruction in the intestinal section of the digestive system;

- bleeding from the digestive tract;

- perforation of the gastrointestinal tract;

- prolactin-dependent tumor;

- epileptic seizures;

- the beginning of pregnancy;

- extrapyramidal motility disorders;

- feeding a baby;

- children under 2 years of age;

- intolerance to metoclopramide preparations;

- intolerance to sodium sulfite (for injection of Cerucal solution)

- hormone-active tumor of the adrenal gland.

Be sure to remember contraindications to women in the period corresponding to the first trimester of pregnancy.

For the doctor to decide whether to use the drug in the II trimester or in the III trimester of pregnancy, strict indications are needed.

Nursing mothers are advised to stop breastfeeding if a decision is made to be treated with this drug.

Patients with kidney disease take the drug under the supervision of a doctor so as not to miss the appearance of side effects.

In diseases of an allergic nature and in bronchial asthma, hypersensitivity to the indicated drug is often observed.

If symptoms of dyskinesia are established, then the Cerucal agent is replaced with the Biperiden or Diazepam preparations.

Under the special supervision of a doctor, the medicine is prescribed for children from three years to fourteen years old, and then only according to strict indications.
