By purchasing an audio system, the buyer, as a rule, focuses on its quality indicators and price. Often the choice is made in favor of small and compact devices that sound great in a store on a demo stand. Already at home, many are faced with the question: "But where, in fact, install the speakers?" If placed in a furniture wall, they do not sound. Resonance phenomena, unnecessary vibrations and muffling annoy. Put up? But then the direction of the sound will be wrong, and the stereo effect will be weak.
Of course, the floor speakers are much better, but they are much more expensive. What to do? There is a solution, you can make stands for acoustics with your own hands.
At first glance, the task is simple, but with a deep examination of the issue, it turns out that there are still difficulties. This is not an easy matter - good acoustics. With their own hands, not everyone will take up on it, and there are well-known companies specializing in the production of speaker stands. Firstly, the design must be stable, because there are children in the family, and adults can inadvertently drop an expensive column on the floor. Secondly, there should be no resonances or other distortions of natural sound. Thirdly, it is desirable that such coasters satisfy aesthetic requirements and match the style of the interior. Fourth, they should be managed inexpensively, otherwise the whole point of saving will be lost. It is possible that there may be other conditions that should be considered when making stands for acoustics with your own hands.
So, first of all, you should think about materials. As a base, it is best to use square plates made of laminated particleboard or wood, and the more their color and shade match the floor, the better. The dimensions of the base should correspond to the weight of the speaker; the heavier it is, the greater stability is needed. Usually a square with a side of 30 to 50 cm is enough, they will be willingly cut in any construction market where you can also get a strip for trimming, which is applied to the edges with an iron.
The second question in the manufacture of do-it-yourself speaker stands concerns rods. Ideally, their height should be such that the speakers are slightly below the level of the head of a person sitting in a chair.
Metal legs for office desks and accessories are quite able to cope with this task; they can be bought at specialized stores selling furniture fittings. By the way, they are equipped with a fairly reliable flange mounting system and, importantly, beautiful, have various surface textures, from chrome to matt black, to choose from. Attaching them to the base with self-tapping screws is not difficult, but there is a subtlety: the holes for them must be drilled, otherwise the surface of the laminate will crack.
The manufacture of do-it-yourself speaker stands is in the final stages. It remains to purchase one more trunnion for mounting the speakers, and screw them to the rack. This is best done through rubber pads, then sound vibrations will be transmitted to a lesser extent to the floor, which will significantly reduce the likelihood of complaints from neighbors, and at the same time increase the quality of reproduction.
A speaker mounted on such a stand sounds no worse than floor speakers. It is not difficult to make it with your own hands, and it will cost inexpensively.
