Character Sarah Lance

Sarah Lance is a fictional character who appeared on the television series Strela and Legends of Tomorrow.

A Brief History of the Character

The image and characteristics of Sarah Lance are partially taken from the comic book character DC comics of the Black Canary. The very image of the heroine and her story were jointly developed by G. Berlanti, E. Kreisberg, M. Guggenheim, which can rightfully be considered its creators.

In the pilot series of the TV series Strela, the role of the heroine was played by Jacqueline Mackinnes Wood. Later Katie Lotz began to play Sarah Lance in โ€œArrowโ€. The actress represented this character not only in the โ€œStrelaโ€ project, but also in another multi-part film called โ€œLegends of Tomorrowโ€.

Character appearances in the series Arrow

The first appearance of Sarah Lance was a pilot episode of the series "Arrow", where she appeared to the viewer as the younger sister of the Black Canary. Sarah was considered dead for a long time because she was together with O. Quinn on his yacht when a shipwreck occurred.

However, it soon becomes clear that Sarah Lance is alive. It turned out that she survived and after the ship wreck, the Amazo ship picked her up. However, in the first season, she appears farthest only in flashbacks, since she was officially considered dead.

The heroine returned to the series in full only in the second season, when she appeared in the image of a superhero nicknamed Canary. Absolutely no one was aware of the real secret of her personality, which the heroine carefully concealed from everyone, even from people close to her.

Only by the third season, Sarah Lance becomes a full member of the Arrows team, constantly working as part of an established group of heroes.

Initially, in the Strela TV project, Katie Lotz was supposed to play the Black Canary, not the White Canary Sarah Lance. The actress, however, was eventually approved for the role of Sarah.

An interesting fact regarding the series, as well as the character itself, is that she is the first hero in the history of Marvel and DC film adaptations to have non-traditional sexual orientation, or rather bisexuality. This was confirmed in one of the episodes of The Arrows, entitled Demon Heir, which openly states that Sarah had a relationship with the daughter of the legendary Ra's al Gul Nissa.

Oddly enough, viewers and even professional film critics very positively received this statement. In fact, now in comic book series, one can openly declare that a character is a person with a non-traditional sexual orientation. This suggests that society has reached a qualitatively new level of tolerance.

The appearance of the character in the series "Legends of Tomorrow"

As already mentioned above, Sarah appears not only in the television series Strela, but also in the multi-part project Legends of Tomorrow, where she was originally located in the depths of the Tibetan mountains. By the will of fate, she finds herself in the team of Rip Hunter, who is fighting Savage Vandal, trying to protect the world from him.

Gradually joining the ranks of the Hunter team, Sarah Lance is more and more immersed in her image and, as a result, finally becomes the heroine acting under the pseudonym White Canary.

It is noteworthy that after the mysterious disappearance of team leader Rip Hunter, Sarah assumes the role of captain of the Volnalet, becoming Rip's successor in this post.

In addition to the aforementioned series, the heroine Sarah Lance has repeatedly appeared in the crossovers of the Strela and Flash TV series called Invasion. Here she appears as part of her team of Legends and battles the invasion of the Dominators.

Conclusion

Sarah Lance, whose photo you can see below, is not the most striking character in the serial universe DC comics, but it is far from the last of her representatives. Despite the fact that she practically does not appear in comics, as well as on large movie screens, but lovers of DC series have long been aware of this heroine for a long time.

She even developed her own fan group, which continues to grow every year and every new appearance of the White Canary in episodes of a particular series. Moreover, most of the online reviews regarding this character are positive.

Despite the growing popularity of the heroine Sarah Lance, to date, her popularity is not as great as that of her prototype and part-time serial sister Laurel Lance (Black Canary).
