A concentration of 0.001% causes irritation of the mucous membranes, severe dizziness. Perhaps nosebleeds. A concentration of 0.02% causes cramping, choking, nasal passages are blocked. If liquid bromine enters the skin, itching immediately occurs. Prolonged exposure leads to ulceration. Such ulcers heal very slowly.

Bromine poisoning can be dangerous. The victim must be taken to fresh air immediately. It is recommended to give warm milk in which soda is added. Skin burned with liquid bromine must be thoroughly washed several times with water.

When inhaling the vapors of the substance in question, a runny nose, salivation, lacrimation, conjunctivitis appears. The tongue most often turns brown. Poisoning can cause pneumonia, bronchitis, pulmonary edema.

Acute poisoning can cause big problems with the respiratory tract: they are very irritated, and shortness of breath, cough, runny nose and other symptoms become incredibly strong.

With bromine poisoning, the lymph glands also suffer. This substance has a very deep effect on them. Lymph glands enlarge and become hard. It is important to note that bromine poisoning only leads to damage to those glands that are on the left side.

The use of small doses of the substance inside leads to direct damage to the spinal cord and brain. At the same time, the human intellectual abilities deteriorate, and his performance decreases. We also note that it becomes easily excitable, but this condition can instantly turn into drowsiness.

In women, bromine poisoning can cause gas in the vagina, as well as a uterine pelvic tumor. Long abdominal pains occur in the lower abdomen. They can torment for a long time after all other symptoms are eliminated. Possible premature menstruation. Usually they are plentiful and accompanied by unpleasant sensations.

Bromine poisoning: treatment

As mentioned above, first of all, it is necessary to bring the patient to fresh air. Next, take off your clothes and wipe the affected areas with an alcohol solution. Victims are prescribed inhalation with a sodium thiosulfate solution (2%). Warm milk with soda should be drunk as much as possible. It is also recommended to eat bread sprinkled with plenty of salt.

In some cases, intravenous injections of calcium chloride are given. Sometimes it is necessary to take various drugs that improve the functioning of the cardiovascular system.
