Beer "Carlsberg": producer, price, reviews

Carlsberg beer is represented by the Danish company of the same name. Today, this brand is one of the largest and most successful in the whole world. The company’s head office is based in Copenhagen, in the Valby region.

History of creation

The brewery was founded back in 1847 by a novice Danish entrepreneur named Christian Jacobsen. The brand was named after the son of businessman Carl. For a long time, Carlsberg beer was produced exclusively for residents of the capital, then the production was expanded to a national scale. The first export dates back to the late 1860s, however foreign shipments were severely limited.

Almost 20 years after the founding of the company, the drink has undergone some changes. First of all, this concerned the method of fermentation of the product. Now the Danes received not just a fermented drink, but a fully cultivated and purified Carlsberg beer. The manufacturer always cared about its customers, so it was soon decided to expand the company's ownership through new laboratories and factories.

It is worth noting that the first chemist of the brand for a long time remained the Dane Lauritz Serensen. It was he who introduced the hydrogen component of pH into the brewing procedure, which is currently used by all other companies.

However, even before that moment, a strange situation occurred with the Carlsberg brand. In 1882, Jacobsen's son left the family business, preferring to open his own beer line. The new brand is called Ny Carlsberg. We must pay tribute to the fact that both competitors went up and down for two decades. In 1902, Karl died, and his sons combined both brands back.

In 1969, Tuborg, the main competitor to the Danish brewery, decided to take over Jacobsen's brainchild. The collapse of the brand was not long in coming. Currently, the Carlsberg directorate owns only a third of the company's shares, the rest is in free float.

Technology excellence

Since 1847, the brewery has been producing an unfiltered drink based on natural starter cultures. The product completely repeated Danish traditions, but did not differ in perfection. In 1865, the first chemical laboratory was opened at the plant. It was in him that a new method for cultivating yeast with subsequent filtration was developed. From that moment, Carlsberg beer rose several steps at once.

The first export was sent to Scotland, and then to Scandinavia and the West Indies. By the mid-1870s, the product was a leader in Europe.

In 1904, the Thor Bindsball architect created the Carlsberg branded green label. Since then, it has been considered the defining trademark of the brand. Six months later, a whole brewing area appeared in Copenhagen. There were not only administrative buildings and bars, but also huge laboratories with new equipment.

In 1976, the largest to this day the international center for the study of alcoholic beverages. It was founded precisely at the chemical laboratories of Carlsberg. The new millennium was marked for the company by the opening of several large branches all over the world, including in Russia. In 2004, Danish chemists improved the recipe for yeast by revolutionizing the very concept of brewing beer.

Interestingly, at one time Carlsberg fans were such cult personalities as Elizabeth II and Winston Churchill himself.

Brand production

Currently, Karlsberg export beer is produced under such popular brands as Tuborg, Baltika and Kronenbourg. In total, the product has about 500 items.

The most profitable year for the Danish brand was 2012, when the company earned a little over 11 billion dollars on sales. Net profit amounted to $ 1.1 billion. It is worth recognizing that in recent years there has been a slight decline in brand revenue, however, similar dynamics are now observed in all famous breweries.
