The hunchback Igor is a character in such feature films of horror genres, mysticism as “The Son of Frankenstein” of 1939, “Victor Frankenstein” of 2015. Both paintings are free adaptations of Mary Shelley's famous novel Frankenstein, or Modern Prometheus, created by her at the beginning of the 19th century.

In the 2015 American-made film Victor Frankenstein, directed by Paul McGuigan, the story is narrated on behalf of Igor, the assistant and friend of the protagonist. The action of the picture takes place in England. In the center of the plot about the Victorian era, a young physician Viktor Frankenstein and a hunchback, a circus worker, are performing a surgical operation to save an acrobat from a circus nicknamed Lorelei, who fell shortly before her performance from a great height.

He takes that from the circus, and a little later Igor Frankenstein becomes an indispensable and loyal assistant in his unusual and frightening surgical experiments. The protagonist of this story takes Igor to his laboratory and, after the operation, relieves him of the hump, which in fact was a purulent bag - a consequence of a long-standing abscess.

Now, the new-born Frankenstein assistant Igor Strauman (he received this name as a gift from the savior) helps the physician revive the corpses. Accustomed to life among people, Igor soon falls in love with Lorelei, who left the circus after an accident with her.

The first biomechanical creation of Igor, an assistant Frankenstein and a young scientist, becomes a chimpanzee named Gordon. To continue the experiments, a genius scientist and his assistant need money, and they receive it from Mr. Finigan, who was amazed at the result of their first experiment and, despite the fact that the chimpanzee Gordon was very aggressive and almost killed Lorelei, he showed willingness to become an investor in the project creating an artificial person.

Frankenstein’s assistant Igor, worried about the inappropriate behavior of the biomechanical creature they created, does not at first support this idea, but later still decides to assist his savior when he begins to realize his plan. Subsequently, Igor Frankenstein’s assistant, Igor understands that in this way he wants to breathe life into the deceased once under the rubble of his brother, in whose death the scientist blames himself.

The hero, whom the locals are afraid of and take for a dead man who comes to life, meets once with Baron Frankenstein and soon offers him to revive the monster resting in the basements of the laboratory. Igor's new acquaintance, Frankenstein, at that moment becomes aware that some of those trying to hang a hunchback were killed by this monster.

A revived monster goes to the village on the orders of Igor to kill those who were involved in that villainy. He carries out the assignment, and soon after what happened in the district, panic begins. Embittered and frightened people go to Frankenstein’s castle to find and kill the baron and the monster revived by him.

One of the main characters in the film “Son of Frankenstein”, Igor, was played by the legendary actor Bela Lugosi, whom many moviegoers still recognize as the best performer of the role of Count Dracula. Before moving to the United States, the actor often had to portray hero lovers in the frame. And only when he appeared in the Hollywood film "Nosferatu. Horror Symphony ”the world got acquainted with Bela Lugosi’s new image - a charming vampire - Count Dracula, who was dressed in a purple cloak and had greenish skin. Then, in the early 1930s, the actor played in the first horror sound film.
