Glenn Hughes: biography and creativity

Glenn Hughes is a British vocalist, songwriter and bass player. He is known for his solo career, as well as for collaborating with the bands Deep Purple, HTP, Phenomena, Tony Iommi and Trapeze. Back in the 60s, the musician organized a group called Finders Keepers. There he sang and played bass.

The Finders Keepers team, created by Glenn, has been transformed into a funky rock band called Trapeze. In 1973, the musician became the bass player of Deep Purple. He replaced Roger Glover, who, at the behest of Blackmore, left the band. Glenn Hughes recorded 3 albums with Deep Purple, participating in the team until its collapse in 1976. He became friends with Tommy Bolin, who joined the group.

Glenn even took part in recording a solo disc. The compounded addiction of the musician was the reason that he quarreled with other members of the group. In 1976, Hughes returned to Trapeze, he soon left the project again. In 1977, he released a solo album, Play Me Out.

Health problems

In 1982, Glenn Hughes, together with Pat Thrall, released an album called Hughes / Thrall. Also in the 80s, as a vocalist and bassist, he collaborated with various artists, including Gary Moore and Phenomena. Hughes participated in the creation of Seventh Star. This name was received by Tony Iommi's solo album.

The record company demanded an album from Black Sabbath. Therefore, the work mentioned above was published under the heading Black Sabbath featuring Tony Iommi. Glenn noted that he did not participate in the Black Sabbath group, but supported the Iommi solo project. In the same period, Glenn began to have health problems. The reason for this was the abuse of drugs and alcohol.

The whole second half of the 80s was unproductive for Hughes, circumstances forced him to undergo treatment. Glenn returned to musical activity in 1991. Before this happened, the musician managed to survive a cardiac arrest and even clinical death.

In the 2000s, Hughes surprised fans with colossal creative activity. He released new albums every year. Glenn continued to collaborate with other musicians. He played as an invited colleague. In 2008, a tour took place, in which Glenn gave concerts in several cities of Russia.

In 2010, a message appeared on the Roadrunner Records website that a new project would be created in which, in addition to Hughes, virtuoso guitarist Joe Bonamassa and drummer Jason Bonham would take part. The group is called Black Country Communion. The team released 3 studio albums, after which they took a break from work.

She was associated with leaving the Bonamassa project. Hughes formed a new band called California Breed. In addition to Glenn himself, it included drummer Jason Bonham, as well as vocalist and guitarist Andrew Watt.
