The main active ingredient of the drug is acetarsol (two hundred and fifty milligrams in one suppository), auxiliary - dextrose (three hundred milligrams), as well as boric acid (three hundred milligrams).
The medication is distributed in blister packs of five pieces each.
The active substance of the drug is an organic derivative of arsenic acid. The content of the latter in acetarsol reaches twenty-seven percent. The ability of this substance to slow down and block the activity of sulfohydryl enzyme system provides metabolic disturbances in protozoa. It is especially effective against trichomonads, amoebas and some spirochetes.
Dextrose is a nutrient substrate for lactobacilli, characteristic of normal vaginal microflora.
Boric acid helps maintain the acidic environment of the vagina.
The complex of the components described above can effectively eliminate the infection. Since the medication acts locally, its components do not penetrate the general bloodstream, which significantly reduces the risk of complications.
