The drug "Osarbon" (candles), the instruction reports, is used in gynecology locally. It produces an antiprotozoal and antibacterial effect. Release form - vaginal suppositories. The main active ingredient of the drug is acetarsol (two hundred and fifty milligrams in one suppository), auxiliary - dextrose (three hundred milligrams), as well as boric acid (three hundred milligrams).

The medication is distributed in blister packs of five pieces each.

The active substance of the drug is an organic derivative of arsenic acid. The content of the latter in acetarsol reaches twenty-seven percent. The ability of this substance to slow down and block the activity of sulfohydryl enzyme system provides metabolic disturbances in protozoa. It is especially effective against trichomonads, amoebas and some spirochetes.

Dextrose is a nutrient substrate for lactobacilli, characteristic of normal vaginal microflora.

Boric acid helps maintain the acidic environment of the vagina.

The complex of the components described above can effectively eliminate the infection. Since the medication acts locally, its components do not penetrate the general bloodstream, which significantly reduces the risk of complications. In addition, this tool can be used with other medicines, the action of which is aimed at treating trichomoniasis.

Osarbon pharmaceutical agent (suppository), the instruction notes, is able to eliminate the recently developed, uncomplicated trichomoniasis, if the patient has contraindications for taking antiprotozoal medications orally. In addition, this drug is used to treat recurrent, chronic trichomoniasis, as well as colpitis. A medication in the form of tablets does not reach the focus of inflammation in an insufficient amount, therefore, in the treatment of the aforementioned ailments, it is optimal to use precisely suppositories. It is recommended to install one suppository daily. The drug "Osarbon" (candles), the instruction warns, can cause dermatitis, an increase in body temperature. The occurrence of jaundice, hepatitis, polyneuritis, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever is not ruled out.

Osarbon suppositories are not prescribed for women expecting a baby, as well as for hypersensitivity. This medication is contraindicated if the patient suffers from liver or kidney failure, diabetes mellitus, hemorrhagic diathesis, tuberculosis, gastrointestinal tract or heart ailments. Lactation for the period of treatment with the drug should be suspended, since information on its effect on breast milk is not available.

With intravaginal use of the drug in question, cases of its overdose were not observed.

The shelf life of the medication is eighteen months. After this period, the drug should not be used.
