Edgar Wright movies

The Trilogy of Three Flavors Cornetto

We can say that it was this series of paintings, released with great interruptions, that became the director's calling card. Many authors have an idea to give several stories different from each other with completely different characters, but at the same time with the same actors, some kind of relationship and combine them under a common name. Edgar Wright took advantage of the same trick. The films “Zombies named Sean” (2004), “Like Cool Pointers” (2007) and “Armageddets” (2013) turned into the director’s famous trilogy called “Blood and Ice Cream”. Each of them is a parody of some well-known, hackneyed genre, and they all make fun of their inherent cliches and cliches. All three paintings contain allusions not only to the classic works of cult directors, but also to the rest of the films of the trilogy. The main roles remained irremovable Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. It is the heroes of the latter in each tape asking to buy the Cornetto ice cream, and it is always of different tastes and colors.

Zombie named Sean Edgar Wright

“Scott Pilgrim Against Everyone”

All parts of the trilogy were warmly received by the public and critics, and Edgar Wright even received 2 awards for the painting “Zombies by the Name of Sean”. However, his next work, unfortunately, was not so successful and failed at the box office, without even recouping the budget. She was the film adaptation of a series of comic books by Brian Lee O'Malley about Scott Pilgrim, who must defeat the seven evil former guys of eccentric Ramona in order to start dating her.

The main role in the film called "Scott Pilgrim Against Everyone" was played by the famous young actor Michael Cera. In addition to him, such famous personalities as Jason Schwartzman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Chris Evans and Anna Kendrick also starred there. But even they failed to save the project. Perhaps the reason for the collapse is that the picture is designed for a very narrow audience - geeks who are addicted to old computer games and consoles, comics and manga. However, commercial success is not what Edgar Wright primarily relies on. It is important for him to create and express in the outside world things that are close to him personally in spirit, as well as bring the paintings to perfection.

Subsequent and future projects

In 2011, Wright became one of the co-authors of the script for Steven Spielberg's film “The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn”. He begins work on the plot and script back in 2006, but a year before the movie was released on the Internet, the sad news was that someone else would take the director's chair. The most common reason for this was creative disagreement with the studio, which did not give the author freedom to implement his ideas. The producers found a new director and hired other screenwriters to fix the story that Edgar Wright had been creating for so long. The filmography of the outstanding filmmaker does not end there. Now he is actively working on the film "Young Driver". The project is still in preparation for filming, but it is already known that the main roles were given to Lily James, Kevin Spacey, Jamie Foxx and Ancel Elgort.
