Bit of history

The first mention of the building dates back to the mid-18th century. Its owners were a lot of famous noble families: the Vyrubovs, Dmitrievs-Mamonovs and others. In 1914, the building was acquired by a novice director Alexander Tairov, and decided to create one of the best theaters in Moscow here. For this, the building had to be redone a little. In May, large-scale construction began under the project of architect N. Morozov. The theater was called Chamber, the premiere of the first performance took place on December 12. For the audience was shown the famous ancient Indian drama "Sakuntala."

Despite all the difficulties (the ministers, located near the church of St. John the Evangelist, were against having this institution near the church), the Chamber Theater worked for the audience.

In 1949, the institution was decided to close. In 1950 it was opened again, though it was already called the Pushkin Theater in Moscow. The new director added a lot of details to his interior (the coat of arms of the USSR above the stage in the main hall, which is still here, a massive chandelier made of gilding, etc.), leaving the facade unchanged. The first performance, the newly opened theater, was shown in the fall of 1950. Viewers saw the play by S. Dadiani "From the spark."

Drama Theater named after Pushkin Moscow: description

A small two-story building does not seem to be splendid and pompous. But inside the theater is striking in its beauty and grandeur. A comfortable lobby with mirrors on the walls and portraits of famous actors and actresses who worked in the theater. Visitors can also see interesting museum posters in frames that are over 60 years old and visit the mini museum with costumes from plays from the early 20th century.

On the ground floor there is a bust of Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, after whom the theater is named. The buffet is located on the third floor. It sells delicious coffee, cakes, sandwiches and cakes. Prices are quite affordable. But the most important place where an exciting performance begins is the auditorium. There is a large comfortable stage, stunningly beautiful chandeliers and soft chairs in the stalls, amphitheater and mezzanine. There are also very cozy lodges for balconies.

The theater branch is located near the main building at the address: 3/25 Sytinsky Lane. The main hall is quite small. In the middle is a scene, on either side of which there are rows of seats (five on one side and three on the other).
