"True Blood": reviews of the series, plot, cast, seasons

Do you like TV shows? And do you like vampire themes? In this case, you will certainly not be disappointed by watching the series "True Blood". Reviews and comments about him can be read on many sites on the Internet. And judging by them, most viewers are quite satisfied and do not think that the time spent watching the series was wasted.

The plot of the series

For many centuries, vampires lived side by side with people, hiding in the night and only occasionally commit brutal murders in order to get enough of the blood of ordinary mortals. However, everything changes after artificial blood was invented in Japan. Now vampires do not have to kill people at all - they no longer want to hide, but wish to become ordinary citizens. The vast majority officially refused to drink human blood, completely switching to synthetic and not presenting any danger to others.

Main characters

However, some people still do not like former bloodsuckers, which previously could only be heard in fairy tales and cheap horror films. The number of "vampirobes" in the outback, for example, in the town of Bon-Tam, which is lost in the vastness of Louisiana, is especially large.

But a girl named Suki Stackhouse, who lives here and works as a waitress in a local bar, has nothing against vampires. Which is not surprising - since childhood, the Bitch has been an outcast. And the whole thing is in her telepathic abilities, which make it easy to read the thoughts of any person met.

And once at Merlot's — the bar where the Bitches worked — Bill Compton, a young 173-year-old vampire, dropped in. Relationships are established between them, but local residents are not at all going to recognize them as something normal. The situation escalated significantly when a chain of brutal murders occurred in Bon-Tam. The townspeople have no doubt that Bill is behind it. What will such a complex set of circumstances lead to?

Season structure

The series has a very interesting structure. Unlike most, when all the events unfold around the same main characters, the situation here is different.

At the crime scene

The seasons are practically unconnected. Each of them tells a separate story with which the main characters are associated. To enrich the storyline, secondary stories that revolve around additional characters are also included in the seasons. In new seasons, new enemies appear. Of course, the heroes have to confront them in order to save themselves and their loved ones.

When did the premiere take place

The first episode of the first season aired on September 7, 2008. After that, a new episode was released every week. In total, the season included 12 episodes, so the last one was released on November 23 of the same year.

Millennial vampire

Subsequently, the trend has changed. All subsequent seasons began to show in the middle or end of June. Due to the preserved periodicity - one episode every week - the season’s show ended by the end of August or, at most, mid-September. You will not say anything - this is a very good solution. Most of the popular series start showing new episodes in September, leaving the summer almost empty - only old episodes are re-broadcast. Therefore, this approach partly ensured a greater number of views and, accordingly, greater popularity.

There were a dozen episodes in the first five seasons. And only in the last two - ten each.

To date, all seasons of the series “True Blood” have been released - the last on August 24, 2014. So, vampire lovers can easily see all the series at once, without waiting for the release of new ones on the screen.

Main characters

Now let’s talk briefly about which actors in the series “True Blood” played the main roles. After all, the success of the project is largely their merit.

The main role in the series, namely Suki Stackhouse, was played by Anna Paquin, a New Zealand actress who is well known to many viewers. It was she who got interesting and colorful roles in many films: "Jane Air", "Darkness", "Fly Home", "X-Men 2", "X-Men: The Last Battle" and several others. Anna also voiced the characters of some cartoons: "The Good Dinosaur", "Mosaic", "Sky Castle of Laputa" and others.

main character

The right to play her friend - Bill Compton - went to Stephen Moyer - a famous British actor. Prior to this project, he played in many films and series. The most striking can be called "Prince Valiant", "Ultraviolet", "Brother Cadfael", "Murders in Midsomer." After the release of the series, the actor began to enjoy even greater popularity, having received an invitation to many other interesting films.

The remaining characters mostly appear in series less often, so we will not describe them in this article.

Vampire mythology in the series

The series "True Blood" received good reviews, which says a lot. And tens of millions of viewers watched it, which is also an important indicator.

Such success would not have been possible without a truly interesting, well-designed universe. To create it, the scriptwriters even had to slightly modify the idea of vampires presented by classical mythology. Perhaps some lovers of mysticism will be interested to know about them.

Vampire fangs in the series do not appear instead of regular fangs, but instead of side incisors.

Aspen stake

Vampires are susceptible to hepatitis D - because of it, they become vulnerable and weak until the body completely overcomes the virus - it usually takes about a month.

As in classical legends, a vampire cannot enter a person’s house without an invitation. But according to the series, a person can also prohibit the vampire whom he previously invited to come to his house.

All vampires have the art of hypnosis. Thanks to this, they are able to force a person to do something against their will, as well as erase any memories from memory.

When blood is taken by vampires by humans, the latter can be cured of diseases, but it also has an effect similar to that of drugs.

Holy water, garlic and a crucifix are not at all afraid of vampires. In addition, they are displayed in mirrors, as well as ordinary people. And all these myths were invented by the vampires themselves to reduce the effectiveness of hunters and protect themselves from persecution. But they do not get along with silver - the slightest contact is enough to temporarily paralyze the vampire. And sunlight can well burn them. A proven wooden stake is effective like nothing else. For any other injuries, the vampire can use incredible regeneration - for this he needs only to drink blood.

A simple vampire bite is not enough to make a person a vampire. In addition, the vampire must also give him his blood, after which a pair of vampire people must spend the night in the grave.

Vampire movie

As you can see, some dogmas from the universe of the series were fictitious or strongly altered relative to classical legends.

Bloopers in the series

Despite the good reviews of the series "True Blood", there were some mistakes here.

In the third season, Eric talks to Evetta, who was introduced to him as a resident of Estonia. Moreover, she tells him in Russian: "Hello," to which he answers, also in Russian: "Wait here!"

In the seventh season there is a small scene of memories. They transfer the viewer to the past - in 1996. Eric and Pam are talking in a store and next to them is a DVD rack. That's only in free sale, they appeared only after a few months - in 1997.

Reviews

In general, the series "True Blood" received positive reviews from viewers and critics. Many appreciated the interesting plot, the wonderful play of the actors, the music is really good, making the series very deep and atmospheric.

TV poster

But not all viewers were fully satisfied. Some noted the low reliability of actions and the unexplained motivation of the main characters. Also, due to the fact that the vast majority of scenes unfold in the bar, it seems that there is simply no city around it.

Conclusion

On this article comes to an end. We hope that you liked it and aroused the desire to watch the series "True Blood" in Russian or in the original. Surely you will not have to be disappointed!
