Rolls and sushi are Japanese dishes that are known all over the world today. Moreover, their popularity is growing every day. Nevertheless, of all the possible options, visitors to cafes and restaurants most often order exactly the Philadelphia rolls. By the way, they are named after the cheese of the same name, which is the main component of a complex filling. Any hostess, if desired, can learn how to make this dish on her own. In principle, there is nothing complicated. Below are a few original recipes and a detailed description of how to cook Philadelphia rolls at home. Each of these options is worthy of attention and has its own army of supporters.
Classic recipe
Before you figure out how to cook Philadelphia rolls at home, you need to know that this dish is a typical representative of uramaki. This is a special type of sushi (it is sometimes called the “inside-out roll”), in which rice is on the outside, and nori with a filling is on the inside. Before you begin, you need to prepare all the necessary components:
- 3 sheets of nori;
- 250 grams of salted salmon;
- 1 fresh cucumber (long);
- 300 grams of rice (medium grain);
- 100 grams of soft Philadelphia cheese;
- a pinch of sugar and salt;
- 1 avocado;
- 15 milliliters of rice vinegar and as much warm water.
To understand for yourself how to cook Philadelphia rolls at home, you must step by step follow these steps:
- Rice and pour into a saucepan. Add 2 cups of water, put on the stove and gradually bring to a boil. After that, the flame should be minimized and the cereal should be cooked under the lid for 12 minutes. Turn off the fire. Allow the product to stand for another 10 minutes.
- Dilute salt and sugar with vinegar in warm water. Pour rice with the resulting solution and mix. Cooked porridge should cool.
- Peel the cucumber and avocado. Cut the pulp of both products into slices or strips. The fruit must first carefully remove the stone.
- Cut the fish into thin strips.
- Wrap the mat with a thin film and spread it on the table.
- Put a sheet of nori on it.
- On top, distribute evenly cooled rice by this time. From one edge, leave a clean strip about 1.5 centimeters wide.
- Lay fillet on the cereal with an even layer.
- Flip the structure so that the fish is at the bottom.
- On top of the nori, apply cheese on one side. This is best done with a teaspoon.

- 15 grams of avocado;
- 2 leaves nori;
- 20 grams of cream cheese and smoked salmon;
- 1 gram of fried sesame seeds;
- 7 grams of red caviar.
To submit:
- 5 grams of wasabi;
- 10 grams of pickled ginger;
- 50 grams of soy sauce.

- Cut the fish and avocado into even strips.

- nori leaf;
- cooked boiled rice;
- 1 cucumber;
- caviar (tobiko or other fish).

- Lay on it ½ sheet of nori (the shiny side should be at the bottom).
- Finish the surface with vinegar.

Simplified version
Some people think that the best Philadelphia roll recipe is the one that uses the simplest filling. Perhaps this statement has its own logic. To prepare such a dish you will need a minimum of products:
- 1 handful of boiled special rice for sushi;
- 100 grams of slightly salted salmon and cream cheese;
- half a sheet of nori.
To cook such rolls yourself, you must:
- Lay Makis on the table.
- Put on it a part of a sheet of pressed algae (nori).
- Take rice boiled and soaked in water acidified with vinegar.
- Put it on top and carefully align it with your fingers to get an even layer. The rice layer should be shifted in one direction by 1-1.5 centimeters.
- Cover the structure with the second part to the maxis and turn over quickly.
- In the middle along the wide side of the sheet, lay the cheese in a rather thick layer.
- Start wrapping the roll from the free edge of the nori. As a result, the rice on the mat will connect to the base layer.
- Lay the thin pieces of fish on the makis tightly to each other.
- Wrap them ready roll. Press firmly on the mat so that the layers stick together well.
- Divide the roll with a sharp knife into 6 (or 8) parts.

You can cook Philadelphia rolls in a rather unusual way. The recipe is fundamentally different from the rest of the options. The fact is that the fish, along with the rest of the ingredients in this case, will be inside. Already familiar products will be required:
- 100 grams of salmon (or salmon) and the same amount of rice;
- 1 sheet of nori;
- 50 grams of Philadelphia cheese;
- 1 cucumber;
- 2 teaspoons tobiko caviar.
To prepare such a dish, you need to follow the steps:
- First, spread a nori sheet on the mat.
- After wetting your hands, lay on it pre-cooked rice. This will be the outer base of the rolls.
- Using a mat, turn the boards so that the algae sheet is on top.
- In the middle, apply a thick layer of cheese. You can do this with your hands.
- Near the length put two quarters of a cucumber.
- On the other side of the cheese place pieces of fish.

There is one original way to cook Philadelphia rolls at home using two kinds of fish. Making them, in principle, is not difficult. But for work you will need many different ingredients:
- 250 milliliters of water;
- 5 grams of salt;
- 200 grams of rice and the same amount of salmon fillet;
- 8-10 grams of sugar;
- 15 grams of vinegar;
- 2 sheets of nori;
- 1 cucumber;
- 120 grams of smoked eel ;
- 1 avocado;
- 40 grams of soft cheese;
- 20 grams of red caviar.
Methods for making rolls:
- Rinse the rice, add water and wait half an hour. Then the cereals should be laid out on a napkin and allowed to dry for 30 minutes.
- Transfer rice to a pan, add water and cook after boiling, without stirring, for 12 minutes.
- Separately, mix the vinegar with sugar and salt in a bowl.
- Pour hot rice into the solution, mix and let it cool.
- Peel the peel from the avocado. After this, the fruit must be divided in half and remove the stone. Cut the remaining pulp into thin slices.
- Crush the cucumber with straws.
- Cut the fillet into thin slices.
- Each sheet of pressed algae is cut into 2 parts.
- Put half the nori on the mat.
- Distribute rice on it. First, the croup needs to be molded in the form of a ball, and then leveled by the fingers.
