I offer you a tortilla recipe - this, of course, is not a fulfillment of desire, but you will certainly take the first step to it.
If this word is unfamiliar to you, I will be happy to tell you what kind of dish it is, how and what it is eaten with, and not only Spaniards or Mexicans. In general, tortilla came to us from Mexican cuisine. This is a tortilla made from corn or wheat flour. The Indians still baked them, but the conquistadors who came and gave this dish the name tortilla. But for Mexicans, this is not just a cake, it is the basis for most Mexican dishes. It is served instead of bread and used instead of cutlery. This is their national pride and an integral part of their culture! In Spain, they also make tortilla, but here this dish looks different. Let's talk about Spanish tortilla and, of course, cook it later. First, let's get started preparing Mexican.
So, the tortilla recipe is surprisingly simple. We take: 500 grams of corn flour (must be finely ground), butter (can be replaced with margarine) - 100 grams, warm water - about a glass, you will need a baking powder for dough - 1-2 teaspoons. If you do not have corn flour, just replace it with wheat flour. The last ingredient is salt (two pinches).
Combine flour (sifted), baking powder and salt. Add finely chopped butter and start kneading the dough, gradually adding water. The dough should become elastic and not stick to your hands. Knead the dough. Give him a little rest, cover him with a cotton towel and let it stand for 10-15 minutes. Divide the dough into pieces (almost the size of a chicken egg). Roll each piece on the table into a thin pancake. Fry the cake on both sides over high heat. It is important not to add oil or fat to the pan. Tortilla is fried in a dry pan! And don't worry if your cakes turn out to be pale with some kind of brown bubbles. It should be so. Here it is, a real tortilla cake on your table. And then come up with your own mind with what you will eat it. You can wrap boiled chicken meat with lettuce, egg omelet (this is what the conquistadors did), fresh vegetables.
