Childhood

Vladimir Alekseevich Konkin was born in the city of Saratov in August (19) 1951

His parents were ordinary workers, but at the same time they were very intelligent people and were able to bring up this quality with their children.

As a late child, from a young age, future actor Vladimir Konkin is used to talking with adults. He often attended various art exhibitions with his parents, performances at the local theater, and read a lot.

Due to heart problems, the guy was contraindicated in physical activity, and therefore he devoted all his free time to intellectual development.

Love for acting was shown by Vladimir in his school years. At that time he was engaged in theatrical studio of Natalia Sukhostav.

Studying and first roles in the theater

After leaving school, the young man firmly decided for himself that his future profession is an actor.

Vladimir Konkin entered the local theater school named after Ivan Slonov on a course to Dmitry Lyadov.

After graduating from this university, the graduate found work in the Ukrainian SSR. Here he was accepted into the troupe of the Theater of Young Spectators in Kharkov.

He worked in this institution for only a year (1972-1973). During this time, his most interesting works were the role of the Niglas in “His Island” and Raymond Kaugswer.

"As the Steel Was Tempered"

In parallel with his work in the theater, Konkin tried his hand at cinema. At that time, artists at the Kiev studio named after Alexander Dovzhenko were casting for the new film adaptation of Nikolai Ostrovsky’s book How Steel Was Tempered. The aspiring actor managed to successfully pass them and get the role of Tsvetaev.

Some scenes for the future picture were already filmed, when the project manager, impressed by the acting actor Vladimir Konkin, appointed him to the role of the main character of the picture - Pavel Korchagin.

Konkin became the third performer of this character in the movie. At the same time, he managed to stand out against the background of previously played Vasily Lanovoy and Vladimir Perist-Petrenko. His Korchagin from a brave idealist (like previous performers) turned into an intellectual, sincere and a little bewildered. Such as a young man should be in a civil war.

For this work, in addition to the all-Union fame and recognition, the artist also received the very prestigious Lenin Komsomol Prize at that time.

In addition, Konkin was invited to work in Moscow at the Mossovet Academic Theater.

“Ata-bats, soldiers were coming ...”

Collaborating with Dovzhenko’s studio, Vladimir Konkin starred in such films as “Romance of Lovers”, “Marina”, “Waves of the Black Sea”, “Talent” and others.

However, his truly successful work during these years was the role in Leonid Bykov’s latest film “Aty-bats, soldiers were coming ...”.

In this project, the artist played one of the main characters - Junior Lieutenant Suslin. In this role, he was able to show a new facet of his talent - the ability to be funny. At the same time, new work for many years secured the image of a military man for Konkin, although the artist himself was never in the army.

"Meeting place can not be Changed"

In 1979, actor Vladimir Konkin (see his photo in our review) again became known throughout the USSR. And this time the role of the military brings him fame. However, now his hero is Volodya Sharapov, a former front-line soldier and employee of the MUR, in a five-part film “The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed”.

This project, shot by Stanislav Govorukhin, was a real hit. Paradoxically, but, unlike "How steel was tempered," "the meeting place cannot be changed," to this day remains relevant.

Many years later, on the twentieth anniversary of the release of the picture, Konkin was awarded the prize of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the role of Sharapov.
