- Instead of using a cinnamon stick, use ΒΌ - Β½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon to taste.

- White wine or cider is suitable instead of red wine.

- If you do not want to use alcohol, you can use 1 tablespoon of balsamic or red wine vinegar.

- Replace fresh thyme with other fresh herbs - oregano, marjoram, rosemary, etc., or you can use dry herbs.

- Use juice and zest of Β½ orange instead of jam.
