What is modern choreography?

The art of dance originated a very long time ago, in ancient Greece, when it served not only for entertainment, but also for pagan ceremonies. But even then the essence and meaning of it was about the same as it is today. Dance is a rush of soul embodied in a bodily impulse. Later various styles and schools of dance began to appear, it acquired exclusively sports and entertainment significance and became one of the main types of art (along with painting and poetry). What is the difference between modern choreography?

contemporary choreography

Modern choreography is, in fact, the union of sports and aesthetic principles in dance. A vivid example of this is the direction of "jazz modern", combining technical plastics with expressive emotional movements. This style is characterized by a frequent lack of a clear rhythm and a focus on musical accents.

choreography training

Modern choreography has also learned a lot from the culture of African-American ghettos, which at the end of the twentieth century began to gain mass popularity. The direction of hip-hop dance, which includes many separate genres, has received recognition. Crump, house, hip-hop, breakdance, LA, waking, paping - these are not all the styles that street dance culture gave us. The basis of any hip-hop trend is to pump music through itself with further improvisation. It is important to note that the wave of these styles over the past decades has reached Russia, where it is beginning to gain mass character.

choreography is

Modern choreography includes one radically new direction, called "contact improvisation." It is a mixture of theatrical stage movement and smooth dance. Its essence lies in the fact that for the time of improvisation, partners focus on each other, becoming one and responding to each impulse. As a result, numbers are extraordinary in their beauty. But here psychology is more important than choreography. This direction is based on full mutual trust between partners, and technology is already playing a secondary role.

One can say that one of the most complex and multifaceted forms of art is choreography. Teaching her can take a person's whole life and requires him to harmoniously combine aesthetic, artistic and sports skills. Modern choreography is complicated by the fact that it continues to develop daily, and dancers have to constantly monitor updated trends and create something new. But this also has its advantages in the form of freedom from canons that have developed over the years. Therefore, if a person likes to bring his ideas and innovations to the dance, then modern choreography is the best suited for his expression.

The art of dance is constantly evolving, and what we call modern choreography today will tomorrow become a classic, and the day after tomorrow it will become legendary. And this is normal, since no art should stand still. So is the choreography. She meets the needs and general trends of her time. Therefore, it is important to take part in the development of modern choreography and support it.
