Description of the Slytherin living room - location and design

Slytherin is one of the faculties of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Those students who are prone to intrigue, possessed a cunning and dodgy mind. And, of course, most of the students were purebred wizards. Although there were exceptions. Therefore, the so-called "purity of blood" was not a prerequisite for selection.

Faculty Overview

It was founded by Salazar Slytherin - one of the creators of Hogwarts. However, unlike others, he believed that the secrets of magic should only be passed on to wizards. Therefore, most purebred magicians studied at this faculty. The Slytherins were not inferior in mind to the Ravenclaws (it was in Ravenclaw that the most curious and quick-witted students were), but study was not their priority.

Slytherins stood out for ambition and often neglect of moral principles. Therefore, it is believed that most of the dark wizards studied at their faculty. The emblem of their faculty depicts a snake that personifies cunning and resourcefulness. And the colors of Slytherin are green and silver. The Dark Lord and all the Death Eaters studied at this faculty, and this further complicated relations with other faculties. During Harry Potter's studies, the deans of Slytherin were Severus Snape and Horace Slughorn, who taught potions.

Features of the location of the living room

All faculties had common living rooms - it was there that all the students gathered and discussed the news of school life. But getting to the territory of another faculty was not so simple: you had to know the input and password.

Slytherin's drawing room and all the other rooms of the faculty are located in the dungeons of Hogwarts. Students rarely descended into these dungeons, except for potions. But even if someone wanted to take a walk there, they could not get to the faculty: the corridor was a dead end.

But behind this dead end there is a secret door that led to Slytherin's living room. To get there, you needed to know the password. Harry Potter, along with Ron Weasley, visited the Slytherin living room in the second part thanks to the Revolving Potion. And the password was the phrase "Pure Blood", which emphasized the importance of the student being a purebred wizard.

Brief description of the Slytherin living room

All rooms are located under the Black Lake, so the light in the rooms is greenish. The rooms have a low ceiling, and the decor is done in green colors, because it is one of the colors of the faculty. In the photo of the Slytherin living room, you can see that it is a tastefully furnished room.

The walls are decorated with tapestries, which depict the exploits of the Slytherins committed in the Middle Ages. Near the walls there are cupboards made of dark wood. But despite the fact that Slytherin’s living room has fireplaces, the atmosphere in it is cold and uncomfortable. Magic lights illuminate the room with a cool greenish light.

All the furniture in the Slytherin living room is upholstered in green fabric. The sofas are black leather and there are also upholstered in dark green fabric. Slytherin's drawing room in Harry Potter appears in the second and seventh parts - when the boy himself appears in it with Ron Weasley using the Revolving Potion. In the seventh part, when he was caught by Fenrir the Gray, he passed himself off as a Slytherin. To be believed, Harry described the living room and gave the password to enter the faculty.

Special Warming Spell

Since all Slytherin rooms are in the dungeons, they are constantly cold. Therefore, all Slytherins use a special warming spell, thanks to which they create and retain heat in various objects. This allows students to feel more comfortable. Some believe that it was created by Salazar Slytherin. Although he believed that students should be kept strict. Therefore, most likely the students themselves came up with it.

The Slytherin drawing room, like all other rooms, has its own distinctive features from other faculties. Of course, gloomy dungeons do not add coziness and comfort to the setting. But at the same time, the greenish glow and splash of water (the rooms are located under the Black Lake) create a calming effect and allow you to focus on learning. And through the windows overlooking the underground lakes of the castle, one can observe amazing creatures, for example, giant squids and other underwater inhabitants. Like other faculties, Slytherin had his famous graduates, whom he was proud of, and they are depicted on tapestries that adorn the walls.
