Theater on the "South-West" has existed since 1977. Created by director Valery Belyakovich. The theater is located in Moscow, on Vernadsky Avenue. The name was given to him in honor of the nearest metro station.
Theater History
The theater at Southwest played its first performance in 1974. It was the "Marriage" of N.V. Gogol. The production was played by Sergey Belyakovich (the brother of the founder of the theater) and the famous actor Viktor Avilov. The first performance was played in a club near Moscow. Then the artists began to perform in the library building, where Valery Belyakovich worked as the head.
The official opening year of the theater is 1977. Since it was then that the artists got their room on Vernadsky Avenue.
The theater (metro "South-West") has repeatedly staged banned plays. For which once it was even closed for several months.
In 1986, the troupe first went on tour. Since then, trips have become regular.
In 1985, the theater received the title of national. And in 1991 - the status of the state.
On the theater building, at the nearest residential entrance, there is a sign: "Zhenya Lukashin lived here." In this house, the film “Irony of Fate” by E. Ryazanov was shot.

Premiere
The theater (metro "Southwest") this season presents the premiere of the play "Portrait of Dorian Gray" based on the novel by Oscar Wilde. This is a cruel tale for adults lasting three hours. The story of Dorian Gray tells the viewer about true beauty, about the soul and about forgiveness. This is an experimental play, a new vision of the work. The production is rather plastic than dramatic, since the most important events taking place in the life of Dorian are told in a dance. D. Gray appears either as a toy in the hands of higher forces, or as a person who leads society to disintegration.
Artistic director
Since 2011, the theater on South-West has been living under the strict guidance of actor O. N. Leushin. Oleg Nikolaevich in 1991 graduated from the Sverdlovsk Theater Institute. Since 1992, he has been working in the troupe of the theater on the "South-West" actor.
Oleg Nikolaevich is a brilliant artist. He can play comedy, and tragedy, and a fairy tale. His characters make the viewer constantly doubt. And not only in complex things, but also in the simplest. In love, truth and its incomprehensibility, in the reality of life. Also, Oleg Nikolayevich himself makes one doubt the usual ideas about acting. The technique of his work is filigree. Moreover, no one can say that O. Leushin works only on her. He plays his characters in such a way that it seems that he himself is similar to them. But, despite this, it is impossible to find a role that is created on the principle of "I in the proposed circumstances." Every detail of his images is thought out to the smallest detail. Everything matters here: the lines of the make-up applied to the face, and every chance glance cast.

Characters played by O. N. Leushin were awarded. The year 1990 brought the artist an award at a festival held among theater schools in the city of Smolensk. His episodic role in the production of Rhino was awarded. In 2000, Oleg Nikolaevich received a prize from the editorial board of the newspaper Moskovsky Komsomolets. He was awarded such an award for his role in the production of Caligula.
In 2003, Oleg Nikolaevich Leushin was awarded the honorary title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.
