Peptic ulcer

Peptic ulcer is a chronic disease that is based on damage to the duodenum or stomach. This disease occurs in people of any age, in most cases in men.

Factors contributing to the disease:

  • genetic predisposition;
  • malnutrition;
  • chronic gastritis and duodenitis;
  • smoking and drinking;
  • Depression
  • prolonged use of certain drugs.

Peptic ulcer has its own symptoms:

  • frequent pain in the upper abdomen ;
  • nausea, vomiting;
  • heaviness after eating;
  • decreased appetite;
  • heartburn.

The main task of the patient is to comply with all the recommendations of the doctor and diet. It is necessary to exclude from the diet salty, spicy, pickled, fried and smoked products, as well as tea, coffee, fatty broths, alcoholic and carbonated drinks. Doctors strongly recommend quitting smoking, as this interferes with the healing of the ulcer and can trigger a relapse.

If you untimely see a doctor or do not follow the rules of treatment, peptic ulcer can cause complications:

  1. Malignancy - the formation of a malignant tumor instead of an ulcer.
  2. Perforation of an ulcer is the formation of an opening in the walls of the stomach or duodenum. This phenomenon is very dangerous for humans. The contents of the stomach enter the abdominal cavity, which threatens with infection.
  3. Bleeding.

Peptic ulcer of the duodenum and stomach requires constant medical supervision. The following measures are recommended for disease prevention:

  • quitting smoking and drinking alcohol;
  • development and observance of the correct diet;
  • decrease in nervous tension;
  • timely treatment of gastroduodenitis and chronic gastritis.

Unfortunately, peptic ulcer disease is often found in children. In this case, the causes are also various disorders of the nervous system, violation of the diet and diet, lack of vitamin B6. As a rule, in children, an ulcer forms in the duodenum.

Characteristic signs: severe, persistent pain in the epigastric region, aggravated by palpation, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, belching. Pathological changes in the liver and intestines are possible. Peptic ulcer is accompanied by periduodenitis and bleeding.

Before making a diagnosis, the doctor must listen to the patient's complaints and pay attention to hereditary predispositions. In order to confirm the diagnosis, it is necessary to undergo an X-ray examination.

At the beginning of the disease, for successful treatment, it is necessary to provide the child with bed rest. All conditions are created for a full sleep and a good emotional state of the child. A special diet is being developed, which will need to be followed for a long time. To maintain the body, the maximum possible doses of vitamins are prescribed. In treatment, mineral waters, alkalis, antibiotics are used. With bleeding, thermal procedures are contraindicated. If intestinal bleeding or bloody vomiting occurs, urgent hospitalization is required.

During remission, treatment in resort areas has a positive effect. In such periods (but at least twice a year), a course of antiulcer treatment is carried out: diet therapy, bed rest, the use of drugs, alkalis, vitamins, sedatives, cabbage juice, rosehip infusion.

In order to avoid the disease, you need to take care of your body and regularly carry out preventive measures. This directly affects children. For them, proper nutrition, care and education should be organized. At risk are children who have suffered severe nervous shocks, received hormones. As well as children whose relatives suffer from this disease.
