early years
Ildar Vilgelmovich Zhandarev was born in January 1966 in Moscow. His father, Wilhelm Zhandarev, is a Tatar by birth. Naturally, the son, Zhandarev Ildar, has the same nationality.
All childhood, however, as well as most of his future life, Ildar lived in the capital of our country - in Moscow. Of course, the metropolitan way of life left a certain imprint on its character and further destiny. Since childhood, creative inclinations began to be noticed in him. Study
Ildar studied at a local metropolitan school. After graduation, in order to please his parents, he entered the Moscow Civil Engineering Institute. This is the largest specialized educational institution in the country of a technical orientation. It was founded back in 1921, and to this day has already acquired the status of a university. Ildar Zhandarev successfully graduated in 1989.
After graduation, Ildar Vilgelmovich worked for about two years as an engineer in his immediate specialty.
Parish on TV
In 1991, Ildar Zhandarev completely changed his life. He refused to work in that specialty, which he studied at the institute, as he found his real vocation - work on television. Of course, this act was quite bold and at first aroused complaints from relatives, but the future showed that the guy did not fail.
He began working on the RTR channel, which was recently formed on the basis of the Second Channel. It was really at that time the second most important channel in the state. Then Ildar Zhandarev realizes his talent to the fullest. He is the host, author, director of various television projects that have won the love of the public. The most significant of them: “A kiss on the diaphragm”, “The plot and the paragraph."
At that time, his partner in art became his senior friend Boris Isaakovich Berman, who was the organizer of K-2 Studio and was the head of the RTR-film project directorate. He helped make the above programs to Ildar Zhandarev and was their co-author. Later, they worked together on many other channels.
Transition to NTV
In 1999, TV presenter Zhandarev, along with his colleague Boris Berman, switched to work on NTV. At that time, it was one of the most popular commercial channels in Russia, which was also gaining momentum, trying to move as aggressively as possible across all market segments, to cover both terrestrial television, satellite and cable. The channel made very high-quality and popular content, had many targeted units and a very powerful team of presenters and journalists, among which Yevgeny Kiselev stood out.
On this channel, Zhandarev and Berman jointly made a series of films called “Interesting Cinema”. They really liked this work, because they could fully realize their ideas.
However, they did not have to work on NTV for long. The channel was notable for its opposition to the Russian government, and its owner, media tycoon Vladimir Gusinsky , was involved in dark schemes. Therefore, in 2001, the owner changed the channel. A significant part of the team of journalists left NTV in protest and switched to working on TV-6, where Evgeny Kiselyov became the leader . Among them were Zhandarev and Berman.
In a new place
On TV-6, colleagues continued to shoot a series of films called “Interesting Cinema”. In addition, Ildar Vilgelmovich launches his author’s program “Without a protocol”. By and large, nothing has changed for Zhandarev and Berman: they worked on the same projects as on NTV, in the same mode and with the same team. This allowed us to hope for a more stable future and confidence in the future.
But in 2002, this channel was closed. The formal reason was the requirement to declare the channel bankrupt from one of the state companies that owned 15% of the shares. But they say that the true reason was the fact that the real owner of TV-6 was Boris Berezovsky, who used the channel to criticize the government.
On the TVS channel
Whatever it was, but in 2002, Zhandarev and Berman again changed their location. This time, the TVS channel becomes their place of work. This television and radio company was founded by Eugene Kiselev and his team after the closure of TV-6. Kiselev became the chief editor of the channel. The team owned 10% of the company. There, Zhandarev and Berman continue to do what they produced while working for previous television companies, namely, to release the programs Without Protocol and Interesting Cinema.
But the team was chased by real rock. Due to a lack of financing and an increase in arrears both in terms of salary and other obligations, the TVS channel was closed.
Transition to Channel One
After the fuel assembly was closed, Zhandarev and Bergman received an invitation from the management of Channel One to go to work with them. Journalists accepted this offer. Then they continued to work on a series of interesting films. In addition, since 2004 they have been making a special issue of the program, “Interesting Cinema in Berlin”. It came out annually around the 20th of February. The last issue of this special project was in 2014.
In the fall of 2004, Ildar Zhandarev and Boris Berman, as the presenters of Channel One, broadcast “Five Evenings,” which was dedicated to discussing the acclaimed series “The Moscow Saga”, filmed on the basis of Vasily Aksenov ’s trilogy . Then they replaced Andrei Malakhov.

But the biggest success of the joint work of Zhandarev and Berman was their joint project “Looking at the Night”. This program is a kind of talk show, which hosts a conversation between the leading cultural figures of various fields: cinema, theater, literature, music, etc. Among the invited characters of the program are such famous names as Grigory Leps, Natalya Negoda, Tina Kandelaki , Viktor Sukhorukov, Alexander Baluev, Nikita Mikhalkov, Mikhail Turetsky, Maxim Dunaevsky, Sergey Shnurov, Andrey Konchalovsky, Nikolai Tsiskaridze, Elena Vaenga, Dima Bilan, and many others. The TV presenters of Channel One posed them sharp and interesting questions, to which they received no less interesting answers.
This project was a kind of rebirth of the program “Without a protocol”. The main difference was that the presenters refused to discuss political topics and invite politicians to the studio as guests, as they did in the previous program. Also quite interesting is the creative approach of the authors, who are at the same time leading, in organizing the program. During the talk show, they play a kind of "good and bad cop."
The program "Looking at Night" began to be released since 2006. At first she went out daily on weekdays, but then it was decided to stay on a weekly basis. The duration of the television broadcast is about 1 hour, along with a break for commercials. However, at one time the program was broadcast seasonally and only since 2010 has firmly taken its place in the broadcast network. Until the end of 2007, Soho Production studio was engaged in its production. After that, until today, the program is being released by Orange Studio and Red Studio, owned by the Red Square television company.
The program owes its name to a rather late airing - around midnight. But, despite such a late time, “Looking at the night” won its target audience. And enjoys constant popularity among viewers.
