Puff pastry bagels - a taste of childhood

Probably, almost everyone in childhood, our beloved grandmothers, prepared fragrant and tasty cookies of small sizes - bagels from puff pastry with cherry or apple jam. You can choose absolutely any filling for this delicacy: it can be condensed milk, fresh fruit, cottage cheese, jam or even chocolate. If you use ready-made puff pastry, then you can cook such a delicacy quite simply and quickly.

Sweet pastries from puff pastry are an excellent treat for friends and guests, it will not leave anyone indifferent, and especially will delight children.

Puff pastry bagels

For cooking, we need:

- puff pastry (preferably yeast) - 250 grams;
- a small amount of flour (approximately two tablespoons);
- one egg;
- six teaspoons of sugar with a slide;
- jam or berries for the filling.

Puff pastry is previously thawed. On a table where we will roll it, pour a small amount of flour. So the dough will not stick and tear, it will be much easier to give it the desired shape. Ready-made puff pastry in the package is sold in sheets, and in order to mold bagels, you need a circle, so the sheets need to be folded into one lump, and then rolled into a big circle. Do not roll it too thin, otherwise it will constantly tear. The thickness should be approximately three to four millimeters.

Next, the rolled circle must be divided into sectors. Cut it from the center to the edges. The outer edge should be the widest, the number of sectors depends on how big a circle you have. Having retreated about a centimeter from the wide edge, we lay out the filling. If you prefer fresh fruits, please note that the filling should not contain a lot of liquid, otherwise it will spread and may burn during baking, and this will ruin your bagels from puff pastry.

The next step: our filling triangles need to be wrapped in the direction from a wide edge to a narrow one. The oven should warm up to 180 degrees at this time. The baking sheet is slightly preheated and carefully greased with butter or covered with foil for baking. In order for our puff pastry bagels to be sweet and have a beautiful golden color, they need to be greased from above. To do this, an egg is broken in one plate, and sugar is poured into another. Each bagel is first dipped in a plate with a beaten egg, and then in sugar.

Bagels are laid out on a baking sheet. It is important to ensure that they do not touch each other and do not burn. After that, put them in the oven and bake for about fifteen to twenty minutes. But first of all, the cooking time depends on the features of your oven. Watch when the bagels begin to brown, - this means that it is time to get them.

So quickly and simply, literally within half an hour, your puff pastry bagels will be ready. Before serving, it is better to cool them. If you have a sour fruit filling, you can sprinkle powdered sugar on top. Best served with tea or coffee.
