Causes of occurrence

Inflammatory processes in the female organs are the most common diseases worldwide. Gynecology of any country annually encounters numerous cases of their occurrence. For example, the main cause of acute salpingoophoritis is infection. Moreover, pathogenic microflora can be both nonspecific (streptococci, staphylococci), and specific (chlamydia). The infection can penetrate from the underlying parts of the reproductive system (uterus), and from the abdominal cavity (for example, with the development of appendicitis).

Symptomatology

This disease has a number of symptoms. Today, thanks to the development of technology, one can see firsthand how various gynecological diseases are manifested. Photos with visual signs of salpingo-oophoritis cannot be found. The main symptoms of this disease are pain, which can be localized both in both iliac regions, and in one of them. In addition, there are clear signs of intoxication (fever up to 39 ºC, poor health, fatigue, etc.). In the event that this gynecological disease is not treated, the pathological process that began in the fallopian tubes also affects the ovaries. This leads to the formation of the so-called salpingo-ovarian tumor. Subsequently, adhesions begin to form in the fallopian tubes. This prevents the passage of the egg, as a result of which the woman develops infertility. Often, sections of the fallopian tube delimited by commissures appear. They gradually accumulate water. In this case, they talk about the development of hydrosalpinx. If an infection gets into such a limited space, then over time pus accumulates there and a pyosalpinx forms.

Treatment

This gynecological disease should be treated as soon as possible. This is because it tends to become chronic. The basis for the treatment of acute salpingo-oophoritis is antibiotic therapy. Initially prescribed drugs with a wide spectrum of action (cephalosporins, aminoglycosides, semisynthetic penicillins). After it is established, as a result of the penetration of which pathogenic microorganism , this gynecological disease developed, antibiotics are selected taking into account the sensitivity of the detected infection to them. It is also often necessary to use proteolytic enzymes. They are necessary in order to prevent the appearance of adhesions. If they are not used, it can lead to infertility even when the pathogen is completely removed from the fallopian tubes and ovaries. Only a full and rational treatment can prevent the development of complications.
