βNovosept Forteβ is a medicine characterized by a local anesthetic and antimicrobial effect. It is intended for topical use in ENT practice and dentistry.
It has a bactericidal effect in relation to an extensive list of gram-positive and gram-negative (to a lesser extent) bacteria. The antimicrobial activity of cetylpyridinium chloride is determined by its nonspecific binding to various elements of the bacterial cell: ribosomes, membrane, enzymes and proteins, resulting in a violation of osmotic balance, protein and carbohydrate metabolism, respiration, and all this leads to the destruction of bacteria. Cetylpyridinium chloride also inhibits certain groups of fungi and viruses. Against bacterial spores inactive.
Formulations of the drug and composition
Available in the form of anise-licorice, eucalyptus-menthol, honey-lemon and orange lozenges.
One Novoscept Forte lozenge contains 100 micrograms of tetracaine hydrochloride, 1.5 mg of cetipyridinium chloride, 13.3 mg of zinc sulfate. In this form of release, there are a number of auxiliary and shaping elements that are placed in non-cell packs. They should be stored in a dry place where light does not get, and also away from children. This dosage form is suitable for no more than three years.
Dosage spray "Novoscept Forte" for local use in the form of a clear liquid with a mint smell. 100 grams contains 0.25 g of cetylpyridinium chloride, 0.017 g of tetracaine hydrochloride, 1.373 g of zinc sulfate monohydrate. Also includes ethanol at a concentration of 96%, glycerol at a concentration of 85%, peppermint flavor, sucrose, eucalyptus oil, purified water, honey flavor. The spray is in plastic bottles of 25 ml, which is equal to one hundred drug dosages. The container has a spray, it is placed in a cardboard package. Instructions for the spray "Novoscept Forte" are available in each pack. It is released over-the-counter. This dosage form is stored for two years, then the use of the drug is prohibited.
Pharmacological action of a drug
The drug "Novosept Forte" has a local anesthetic, antifungal, bactericidal effect, which is due to the active substances in its composition.
Cetylpyridinium chloride is an antiseptic among ammonium quaternary compounds and is a part of cationic surfactants. It has a bactericidal effect against an extensive list of gram-positive and less gram-negative bacteria. Its antimicrobial effect is due to non-specific contact with various substances of the bacterial cell, namely ribosomes, membrane, enzymes and proteins, resulting in respiratory failure, osmotic equilibrium, protein and carbohydrate metabolism, due to which the bacteria die. Cetylpyridinium also inhibits certain types of fungi and viruses. Against bacterial spores inactive.
Tetracaine hydrochloride is an effective local anesthetic that quickly eliminates or reduces pain.
Zinc is an oligoelement that produces an immunostimulating effect.
Pharmacokinetics of the drug
Cetylpyridinium hydrochloride produces a local antimicrobial effect in the oral cavity as it dissolves in the form of a lollipop. It is absorbed by the patient in the gastrointestinal tract. Its distribution occurs in the kidneys, lungs, and liver. It is excreted with bile through the kidneys mainly in an unchanged form.
Tetracycline hydrochloride is rapidly absorbed when applied to the mucous membranes. Like other local anesthetics, this substance is concentrated primarily in the patient's lungs, and after an hour and a half it is found in large quantities in the adrenal glands, kidneys and liver. The lifetime of tetracaine is shortened, and with plasma proteins, the relationship occurs by 85 percent.
Indications for use and contraindications of this medication
According to the instructions, Novosept Forte is used in the local therapy of inflammation of the larynx and oral mucous membranes: disorders of the oral cavity, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, gingivitis and stomatitis.
It can not be used for hypersensitivity to the composition of the drug, local anesthetics, integrity defects in the body of the mucous membranes, acute liver or kidney failure, pregnancy, childhood and lactation.
Instructions for use of the drug
Lozenges must be absorbed in the mouth and not chewed. For adults, the dosage is from 4 to 6 pieces per day with a break for two hours. The treatment course usually lasts no longer than five days.
The spray is sprayed onto the mucous membrane of the pharynx or oral cavity when holding the breath. Dosage for adults: three injections at a time per day 4-6 times with a break of two hours. A traditional treatment course lasts as long as with lozenges.
Side effect and overdose of the drug
Allergic reactions from Novoscept Forte may occur (swallowing defects, anaphylactic shock, itching, and urticaria).
Signs of an overdose: pallor of the skin, vomiting, respiratory depression, apnea, bradycardia.
If such symptoms occur, the drug should be discontinued and a specialist should be consulted.
The interaction of this medication with other drugs
Medicines that inhibit cholinesterase (thiotepa, antimiasthenic, zkothiofat, isofluurafate, cyclophosphamide, insecticides, demekarium) reduce the metabolism of tetracaine hydrochloride and increase its toxicity. If taken along with anticoagulants (warfarin, heparin, enoxaparin, dalteparin), the likelihood of bleeding increases. Use along with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (selegiline, procarbazine, furazolidone) increases the risk of a decrease in blood pressure. Tetracaine hydrochloride enhances and continues the effect of drugs of the muscle relaxant group.
Beta-blockers slow down the metabolism of tetracaine hydrochloride and increase its toxicity (a decrease in the amount of blood flow to the liver). Zinc cannot be combined with silver salts, citral (forms compounds that are poorly soluble), ichthyol, quinine, alkaline reacting components (zinc hydrate of oxide is formed, as well as protargol (it falls under coagulation).
Due to zinc, the absorption of copper and tetracycline is reduced (it is necessary to apply no earlier than two hours after using these drugs.
Thiazide diuretics make urinary excretion of zinc stronger. Folic acid is able to disrupt its absorption to a small extent. High dosages of iron and various complexing agents significantly reduce zinc absorption (can be used no earlier than two hours after taking these drugs). Cetylpyridinium cannot be combined with surface-active anionic components.
Analogs of Novoscept Forte

What other reviews are there about Novoscept Fort?
Patients often accidentally purchase this drug instead of other popular medicines, for example, Septolete. A variety of tastes pleases patients. The only drawback is the cost of the drug, but it is justified by its effectiveness: anesthesia, increased immunity, bactericidal effect. Novoscept Forte has proven itself among patients.
