Several years ago, on Strastnoy Boulevard , repairs began in one of the buildings. This house was not simple and belonged to the Union of Theater Workers, or rather the STD of the Russian Federation. During the repair a semi-basement was discovered, which was so spacious that the idea came up to create a new theater project with the participation of young talents. Graduates of theatrical and directorial schools had the opportunity to create spectacles different from the classics and bring their brilliant ideas to life in an unusual and theater-like space.
Boyars Chambers on Strastnoy Boulevard
So the youth project START UP appeared on Strastnoy Boulevard. This is the address of the "Boyars' Chambers". The building is located near the Chekhovskaya metro station. There is no scene familiar to the viewer, the action of the performances and ideas of young talents takes place in the same space as the audience. And yet it is a theater. Despite the unusual new space given to young talents, they strive to think and create outside the box, going beyond the usual.
"Boyars' chambers" occupy a significant area. There are arches and a vaulted ceiling, where even a whisper is given a booming echo, an old masonry of red brick. Having come to this unusual place, the viewer is immersed in the atmosphere of the performance and, as events unfold, together with the artists moves from one space to another.
Youth Council of the STD of the Russian Federation and implementation of projects
Alexander Kalyagin, as chairman of the STD of the Russian Federation, believes that young people need qualified assistance to realize their talent. For this, the STD of the Russian Federation organizes many projects, laboratories, and master classes aimed at supporting the aspirations of artists. The mission of the Boyars' Chambers (STD of the Russian Federation in Moscow) is to unite many programs that are created specifically for talented people and are focused on various theater professions.
Under the STD of the Russian Federation, a Youth Council was created, which develops and coordinates a platform for fruitful communication and help each other, initiates the creation of new projects.
Theatrical vocational school
In June 2016, as part of the grant, under the patronage of the President of the Russian Federation, the first all-Russian project "Theater vocational schools" was implemented. It was created specifically for those who already have a specialty, but would like to receive additional education and improve their skills. Project participants appreciated the importance of such training, and the STD of the Russian Federation decided to conduct such a program regularly. Participants will receive the necessary knowledge of scenography, light, sound, multimedia technologies.
Location Program
The Boyarsky Chambers Theater in Moscow holds many interesting performances staged by young directors as part of the Venue Program. Classics are often shown here. For example, Dostoevsky’s novel Crime and Punishment is embodied in different interpretations.
A certain budget has been allocated for the implementation of the new program, and each participant must develop a sketch of the future performance within ten days. The program has a competitive basis, and only five out of forty creative groups will be able to create laboratory performances. The application must contain a sketch of the play, which will be further staged in the Boyars' Chambers, and the best creations will be available for rental throughout the year.
Cross-cutting project in Boyar’s Chambers
But not only the theater is famous for its performances. It hosts creative evenings, exhibitions of young artists, master classes, and concerts. Famous directors Adolf Shapiro and Vladimir Mirzoyev are frequent guests at creative evenings. Such collections with analysis of classical works help to analyze and think. For Adolf Shapiro, this is an act of directorial creativity, and the audience of the “Boyars' Chambers” has a rare opportunity to observe the artist’s skill. Vladimir Mirzoev, one of the heroes of the “Through Action" project, offers to make out the brilliant phenomenon of the XX century theater - Pinter's dramaturgy.
Festival-forum "Art migration 2016"
The Boyars' Chambers in Moscow give young talents unlimited opportunities for the realization of their plans. Another project that stimulates creative resources and the ability to transform young performers is the All-Russian forum-festival "Art Migration", which is conducted by the STD of the Russian Federation.
This forum is held especially for graduate directors who were able to stage interesting performances outside of Moscow and St. Petersburg. The purpose of the festival is to support their creative activities. The project also has a competitive basis, of the many applications for the festival will be able to participate no more than ten groups. The festival also has a special program, on the basis of which lectures, projects, excursions, presentations are given by eminent directors and theater critics.
Creative internship for young talents
"Creative internship" is another new project of the Boyars' Chambers (STD) for young directors and artists whose age does not exceed 35 years, and they have not only specialized education, but also a desire to develop further in their profession.
The youth will take this internship in Moscow theaters, and the leading theater directors will become leaders with the aim of developing cultural ties and creative mobility. In this project, trainees will participate for free, while nonresident scholarships are paid and hotel accommodation is paid. In 2017, you can get a theatrical internship with Kirill Serebrennikov, Robert Sturua, Boris Konstantinov. For theater artists, the Union of Theater Workers will prepare a separate program of creative internships.
