Fans of original party snacks or lovers of Mexican cuisine must have heard of such a popular Latin American dish as guacamole. The classic recipe is considered invented by the Aztecs, but it may well turn out that this delicious dressing was created even earlier.
Traditionally, guacamole sauce is made for dipping crispy chips, seafood or other snacks. In addition, it is also suitable for a healthy diet, because the products used for it are very useful. So how do you cook guacamole?
Classic recipe
Itβs hard to say which product combination is the only right one. Mexicans have a creative approach to cooking, so the components of guacamole can be anything. In each family, a favorite taste may differ from that adopted in other families. Nevertheless, there is something that unites the different varieties of guacamole. The classic recipe, or what you can call it, necessarily includes ripe avocado fruits, lime juice and salt. It is without these products that it is impossible to imagine this dish. Guacamole, the recipe with a photo of which confirms this, thanks to the avocado, has a pleasant green tint, and lime protects the product from darkening.
But the additions can be any, depending on which particular shade of taste you want to try.
Cooking Guacamole
The classic recipe suggests starting with the following. Peel and remove the seeds from the avocado, mash it with a fork, if possible, not made of metal. Add lime juice, salt and start experimenting. Alternatively, you can crush all the components in the mortar. So the products retain more nutrients and acquire a special creamy consistency. But in modern conditions, no one wants to spend a long time preparing such simple dishes as guacamole. The classic recipe will not suffer at all, even if you use a blender or mixer. So, decide what taste you want to taste: sour, sweet, spicy, piquant? All this is easily accomplished with the help of additional ingredients.
It can be fresh cilantro, sliced ββpod of red chili peppers, onions, garlic crushed with a garlic crusher, fresh or
sun-dried tomatoes, some high-quality olive oil, any spices to your taste.
Guacamole Cooking Tips
The classic recipe is simple, but you need to know some subtleties. Lime juice is required in a dish, not only for a pleasant sourness, but also in order to preserve the beautiful green color of the avocado after grinding. Therefore, experiments with taste should not exclude the main components. If you decide to add tomatoes, be sure to remove the seeds, excess fluid and peel. Only tomato pulp is added to guacamole. If you want to add a little olive oil, keep in mind that this way you will increase the calorie content of an already fatty sauce. When chopping vegetables with a blender, use the mode that allows you to leave a few small pieces, as the mashed potatoes will not match the taste accepted in Mexico.
