When watching a series, an interesting feeling always arises, as if a person is facing a certain situation and he can explain and judge it himself. This is the plus of such films - they, like a kind of psychological canvas, allow you to look at life from the side, consider your own character, evaluate your life and make important conclusions. Despite the fact that many people consider watching TV shows as a waste of time, high-quality tapes often help a person get out of depression, find himself or just sort out his inner feelings.

Creators
Mad Men is a series shot in the style of a classic drama. They presented the world with a wonderful US film, namely directors Tim Hunter, Andrew Bernstein and Alan Taylor. It is interesting that these three people are quite famous masters of their craft who worked on the best films of our time. Even with this in mind, it is incredibly interesting to see the fruits of their joint activities.
Tim Hunter is a famous American film director and screenwriter. He has been working on television since the late 1980s. During his fruitful work, he worked on episodes of many popular television series, such as Breaking Bad, Slaughter Department, Doctor House, Deceive Me, Twin Peaks, Pretty Little Liars, American Horror Story and etc.
Andrew Bernstein made 12 films from 1976 to 2013. He is also an American director, producer, and even an actor of Canadian origin. Among his works: “Secret communications”, “Forward, into the past!”, “Doctor House”, “Ambulance” and others.
Alan Taylor is an equally famous and talented figure - an American filmmaker, screenwriter and producer. Mostly shoots for conventional and cable television, as well as HBO. Among his works, it is worth highlighting: “Thor 2: The Kingdom of Darkness”, “City of Hooligans”, “Terminator: Genesis” and others.
Plot
The series "Mad Men", for which the actors were selected very carefully, tells about the events taking place in the 60s of the last century in the USA. The action takes place around the successful Sterling-Cooper advertising agency, which is located on the famous Madison Avenue in the heart of New York. By the way, the English version of the name of the series should be understood precisely as "Advertisers from Madison Avenue." But, unfortunately, the name of the series was not literally translated.
In the series “Mad Men”, the actors will show the spectator various twists and turns in the fate of the heroes, and will make it possible to examine them from each side. The tape touches on the following topics of no small importance for modern society: betrayal and fidelity, racism and anti-Semitism, female emancipation, people with a non-traditional orientation, environmental protection and alcohol. Interestingly, all this will happen against the backdrop of events that are changing American society radically. In this case, the viewer will clearly feel like a man of the Cold War.
Psychology of the series
The central characters of the tape are the director of this advertising agency Don Draper and his subordinates. The series is focused on illuminating the career sphere of people's lives, their attitude to work, making a profit. At the same time, emphasis is placed on the personal principles of each hero and how they are combined with work that requires cunning, dexterity and a little deception. In parallel with this, there is a third storyline that tells about the family life of the director and his staff. Thus, the same heroes appear in front of the audience in completely different forms and situations. An excellent psychological game that requires attention and concentration. Tension, empathy, understanding and disgust - all this, and not only that, the audience will have to experience the same hero. How the directors managed to combine so much in man so ingeniously is truly a mystery. But the series “Mad Men”, actors, sets, situations fascinate with realism, because in life each person is the same - one role at work, another at home and a completely different personality in the soul. An amazing picture that will lead a person through their own back streets of consciousness and conscience.
Main character
In the intense series “Mad Men”, the actors had to ideally get used to the role in order to convey all the facets of the characters of their heroes.
The main role in the film belongs to a very interesting and outstanding person - the director of an advertising agency, Don Draper, whose role is played by John Hamm. On the one hand, this is a successful person who has achieved the desired and leads a powerful advertising company. This already indicates that the person is clearly not stupid. In addition, only the strongest people who grab their teeth and tear their own can survive in American business. Don Draper is just such a purposeful, strong-willed and indestructible person. But everyone has skeletons in the closet, and he is no exception. It will be enough to note that Draper is very fond of weaving various intrigues, entangling his subordinates in them. There is no one to besiege him, because he is the head of the company and no one will put him in his place. Moreover, few people realize that such a person will deal with petty gossip. But Draper, being at its peak, actively interfering with competitors and ill-wishers, loves to observe the behavior of people and put them in an awkward position. At the same time, he values his authority in the company and will never risk it. The opinion of colleagues and friends plays an important role for him, but few are familiar with his past. It is worth noting that John Hamm did an excellent job with his role.
Wife
Another important role belongs to Donald's wife - Betty Draper, which was performed by January Jones. Betty has been married for seven years, and during this time three children appeared in the family: Bobby, Eugene Scott and Sally. She is not at all a housewife, on the contrary, Betty is an active, beautiful, modern woman.
In addition, before marriage, she was a model. She randomly learns about her husband’s secret adventures and realizes that everyone around her knows this except her. After the incident, Betty (January Jones) decides on a divorce, intending to establish her personal life and build family happiness with another man.
Friend
Not the last role in the family life of the Draper is played by Betty's best friend - Francine Hanson. The role was played by the excellent Anne Dudek. Francine is not only a close friend, but also a housemate. She strongly supported Betty's intention to file for divorce, ranting about how terrible men are in their majority. However, shortly after his own marriage process, Francine learns that her husband has a constant lover.
Employee
A pretty secretary, Peggy Olson, is placed in Draper's advertising agency, played by Elizabeth Moss. Gradually, she takes the place of a copywriter, thereby laying claim to career growth in the company. She is in a relationship with Pete Campbell and is pregnant by him. Experiencing a severe emotional shock, Peggy (Elizabeth Moss) wants to send the child to an orphanage.
In the series “Mad Men”, Vincent Cartiser plays the role of Pete Campbell. Over time, the viewer learns that he is married to a socialite who cannot have children and wants to adopt a child in the future. However, Pete is strongly opposed to this. In the movie "Mad Men" Christina Hendricks is of no small importance; in the film, Joan Harris is the mistress of a long-time friend of Donald Draper.
Also in the series there are characters who participate only in some episodes, and subsequently appear occasionally. One such hero is Paul Kinsey (Michael Gladys), who is actively involved in the first two episodes.
Positive reviews
The tape received four Emmy Awards in a row in the Best Drama Series category. In addition, the series has won many less significant awards and nominations, which are considered quite prestigious in the world of cinema. Despite a small percentage of viewers and critics who negatively perceived the picture, the vast majority agreed that the series deserves admiration and awards. From the very first seasons, the tape was included by the most severe critics in the list of the greatest series of all time.
