Leonid Afanasyev was born, whose music is known and familiar to many people, in August 1921 in the city of Tomsk. Over time, the whole family moved to Semipalatinsk.

In 1931, Leonid went to Semipalatinsk to school number 1 named after Nikolai Chernyshevsky. After studying for eight years and receiving a diploma of education, I decided not to go to the ninth grade, but to realize my dream.

Leonid Afanasyev is known as a songwriter. But for this, after the end of the war in 1946, he entered the conservatory in Alma-Ata. He studied at the conservatory in the Brusilovsky class. In 1951, immediately after graduating from the conservatory, Leonid Viktorovich began his studies in graduate school, but only at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. He was able to get into class A.I. Khachaturian.

Subsequently, he even became a consultant to the creative commission of the IC of the Soviet Union. His first musical composition was created in 1949. In 1952, Leonid Afanasyev received the Stalin Prize for his violin and orchestra concert . In 1975, Leonid Viktorovich was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR. In 1986, another title was awarded - People's Artist of the Russian Federation.

The famous and talented composer died in Moscow in early October 1995.
