Count Dooku, Star Wars character

Count Dooku (the Sith version of the name is Darth Tyranus) is one of the fictional characters in the Star Wars saga. It is considered the last of twenty masters who voluntarily left the Jedi Order. After accepting the Dark Side, he became a student of Darth Sidious. He headed the Confederation of Independent Systems and organized the separatist movement. Died at the hands of Skywalker at the age of 83.

Childhood

Dooku was born in the Count's family, on the planet Serenno. Almost immediately, he was taken to the Jedi Temple for training. Master Yoda became the teacher of Dooku, and after reaching the age of 13, the boy moved to the Padawans to Tam Serulian. The youth felt great potential, and Tam grew from him a strong Jedi. Serulian also instilled in Dooku an interest in history and politics.

The young count had several friends: Iro Iridian, Senator Assistant Blix Annon and Junling Lorian Nod. Subsequently, they betrayed Dook, and in the future he feared friendship and affection. Once, with Lorian, the young count found records from his teacher about the Sith holocron. Nod tried to persuade Dooku to steal the notes, but the latter refused. Then Lorian stole them on his own and transferred all the blame to the young count. The lie was quickly revealed, Noda was expelled from the Order.

After some time, Serulian realized that Count Dooku took over all the knowledge that he had. Young Jedi was engaged in Yoda himself, who had not taken Padawans for many years. And if Tam honed the mind of the young count, then Yoda helped him master the fencing perfectly. Only a few masters of the Order could boast of such a skill.

Master and knight

At age 20, Dooku received a knighthood and immediately took Qui-Gon to the Padawans. Together with the newly made student, he went to the defense of Senator Blix Ann. The senator was accompanied by the count's old friend, Iro Iridian. They all fell into the trap of Lorian Noda and were captured. It became even more complicated when Blix died of a heart attack. Iridian, in collusion with Nod, panicked. The count and his apprentice took advantage of this panic and started a fight with the pirates. They managed to break free. The last hurdle was Lorian Nod. But the sword of Count Dooku was much stronger, Nod was defeated. Only student intervention helped Lorian stay alive. At the same time, Iridian surrendered the Jedi to the droid Noda. After such a betrayal, the count never made close friends again.

Leaving the Order

Thor Wizsla, the head of the Death Watch, sent a false message to the Temple that Mandalorians were killing political activists on the planet Galidraan. Dooku, along with Komari and the other Jedi, was sent to solve this problem. Upon arrival at the place they themselves had to fight with the Mandalorians.

This battle, as well as the disappearance of Komari, forced the Count to reconsider his own views on serving the Jedi Order. The last straw was the killing of his student Qui-Gon. And one of the most prominent characters in the Star Wars saga - Count Dooku - voluntarily left the Order, deciding that he blindly obeys the Senate.

Returning to Serenno, he received the hereditary title, and a few years later became one of the richest people in the Galaxy. Hiding behind their own influence, Dooku began to comprehend power as the Dark Sith Lord.

Sith Student

Accepting the Dark Side of Strength, the Earl became the Padawan of Darth Sidious, the strongest character in the Star Wars saga, also known as Senator Palpatine. Dooku began to implement Darth's plan to destroy the Jedi Order, but he did it secretly, without revealing himself. This went on for eight years.

By the way, the count regularly communicated with Palpatine, while still in the Jedi Order. And the disappointment of Dooku in the Senate and the Jedi was known to Sidious. Gradually their eyes converged, and the count joined Darth. As an entry fee, he offered Sidious a sacrifice - his old friend, Master Sifo-Dyas.

Create Grievous

For a long time, Count Dooku was looking for forces that would help him split the republic. Sidious ordered him to recruit General Grievous, who worked for the Intergalactic Banking Clan.

It was known that Grievous refused to voluntarily participate in the separatist movement. But Dooku was ready for such a turn of events and ordered to plant a bomb in his ship. Grievous was severely crippled, and the count told him that it was the Jedi's fault. After that, the general was taken to Geonosis and made him a new body, turning into a cyborg. When Grievous recovered, Dooku gave him the lightsaber of Sifo-Dyas and taught him the basics of fencing. The count was very pleased, because he received a general who controlled the army of droids and only wanted one thing - to take revenge on the Jedi.

Character traits and personality

Dooku was a charismatic leader, an excellent warrior, politician, speaker and philosopher. He could equally well use both the Dark and Light side of the Force. Yoda himself referred him to the category of his best students, although he considered the sieves to be his biggest failure.

Count Dooku, whose photo is attached to the article, had a fierce hatred of the inhuman races. For him, the Galaxy was divided into two parts: “Asset” and “Threat”. The "Asset" included all the creatures useful to the count, which helped him achieve his goals. The “Threat” group included everyone else. If Dooku identified someone as an enemy, then this creature was immediately sentenced to death.

When the count was a Jedi, arrogance and prejudice were alien to him, but with the transition to the Dark side, these character traits began to manifest themselves most clearly. He truly believed that if the Jedi Order took the Dark Side, he could manage the Galaxy without any Senate. As a sieve, he wanted to lure all the Light Side supporters into his army.

Forces and abilities

Count Dooku was a master of fencing. He knew 7 forms of fencing, although he perfectly mastered only one style - Makashi. When the clone war was on, only two masters could fight with him on swords on equal terms - Mans Windu and Yoda. Although the 3rd, 4th and 5th forms were much more useful and practical, Dooku strove to develop the 2nd form of fencing art.

It was based on the methods of opposing the sword to the sword. Acrobatic tricks of the 4th form annoyed the count, and the 2nd was the only way to crush other styles. Makashi’s uniform was intended to fight with one opponent, but Dooku developed his skills to such an extent that he could easily resist 4-5 opponents at the same time.

The transition to the Dark Side only strengthened his fencing skills. Despite his advanced age (80 years), the count was in good physical shape and could perform acrobatic stunts and accelerations that were not subject to the young Jedi. Using Sith aggression to strengthen his style, Dooku hoped to defeat Master Yoda, but he did not take into account the enormous speed of the old teacher. The count escaped from the battlefield and devoted the next three years to hard training.

The battle over Coruscant was the last for the count. Skywalker used an aggressive version of the 5th form in the fight, eliminating all defensive styles. The sieve simply did not have the strength to repel Anakin's powerful blows, which led to his death. Count Dooku’s lightsaber went to his opponent. And finally, here are a couple of interesting facts.

Interesting Facts

  • In the 2nd and 3rd parts of the Star Wars saga, Christopher Lee played the role of the sieve. Due to the latter’s old age, Kyle Rowling’s body was used in battle scenes, and Li’s head was “attached” using computer technology.
  • The name Duku comes from the Japanese Doku (translated as poison). Due to the discord in the Portuguese language, he was changed to "Ducan." A Sith version of the name "Tyranus" came from the Greek "tyrant" - a dictator.
