The series "Cops Rookies": actors and roles, a short story

The joint Canadian-American series “Cops Rookies” was launched in June 2010 on two channels at once. After the pilot episodes, his rating was surprisingly high, so the creators extended it first for one season, and then another four.

Story line

Rookie cops are actors.

In the fifteenth section of the Canadian city of Toronto, very young, as they say, green graduates of the police academy are arranged . The employees of this department are not involved in the investigation of the proceeds, they are only looking for wanted persons, and they are leaving for civil unrest. However, in fact, it turned out that the site with this number does not exist at all. Three girls and two guys - they are all new recruits now. The actors involved in the project are unfamiliar to the Russian viewer, but are known in their homeland for various television projects.

Andy McNally (M. Peregrim)

After graduating from the academy, the young lady filed solely out of a desire to follow in her father's footsteps. The role was played by the Canadian fashion model and actress Missy Peregrim. Her on-screen debut took place in 2002 in the series Dark Angel. She was twice nominated for the Leo Awards for her role in the television project Reaper as the performer of the best female role. Behind the character of Andy is a difficult family environment, the mother abandoned the family when she was only 12 years old, and her father drank too much, unable to bear the burden of work and loneliness. Being a policeman is her calling, she seeks to help people, is strict with herself and loves her job.

Gail Pack (Charlotte Sullivan)

TV series Rookies

Gail’s mother occupies an important leadership position in the Canadian police, so her colleagues have a very biased attitude towards her, they believe that many mistakes simply get away with the girl. Beginners openly dislike her, and the girl herself, in fact, is lonely. The role was played by a Canadian actress, almost unfamiliar to the Russian viewer. This is the hallmark of the Cops Rookie series. Actors are popular and known mainly in Canada. Charlotte began her career as a teenager, in her piggy bank, the role of Marilyn Monroe in the mini-series The Kennedy Clan.

Dov Epstein (Gregory Smith)

Another graduate of the Academy and colleague Andy. The guy initially was very upset about the lack of a threatening look that the policeman needed, but calmed down, deciding that in uniform he was more attractive to girls. But with the beautiful half he does not add up. He seeks to prove to his colleagues that he is a good officer, but he often finds himself in funny situations and commits rash acts. The role was played by Gregory Smith - an American and Canadian actor, known for the film "Soldiers", "Patriot", where Mel Gibson became his colleague on the set.

Gregory Smith.

Sam Suarek (Ben Bass)

Experienced police officer. Fell in love with the heroine Missy Peregrim literally from the first minutes of meeting, but in no way showed her feelings until the third season, in which they began to actively develop relationships. After a long quarrel and separation, they eventually get married in the final season of the series. Bass Byrne as an adult and more experienced employee looks very harmonious. The actor has a professional education, studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

Chris Diaz (Travis Milne)

A beginner used to playing by the rules anytime, anywhere. He tries in everything to be strictly guided by the instruction exactly until the moment he begins to realize that it is more important to be a person, not a police officer. Gale has been dating for a long time, but the relationship has not been further developed. Chris was played by Canadian actor Travis Milne. The series “Cops-Recruits” (actors and roles are described in the article) is not his first work, but the most famous for the audience.

Tracy Nash (Enuka Okuma)

Missy Peregrim.

Another newcomer to the site. Colleagues know that she is raising her young son Leo alone. She was once engaged to the detective of the department Jerry Barber performed by Noam Jenkins. The role of Nash went to actress Enuke Okuma. Canadian of African American descent has more than fifty television projects in his piggy bank, including Detective Rush, Dark Angel, Andromeda, etc.

Criticism on the new recruits

The actors, casting and the project itself after the first three pilot episodes aroused great interest among the audience, but most of the critics greeted the premiere rather coolly. One of the observers of The New York Times newspaper, Alessandra Stanley, expressed the view that the series does not have innovative ideas, but it is not an exclusively entertaining show and has a certain meaning. In addition, many critics noted the noticeable similarity of the project with the popular medical television drama "Anatomy of Passion" and drew a parallel between the main characters. According to them, the graduate of the police academy performed by Missy Peregrim is an analogue of Meredith Gray.
