Affection of fungi of the skin or hair, which causes an acute infectious disease, is ringworm in people. Symptoms of this infection, unfortunately, are not immediately apparent. As a rule, from infection to the first rashes, sometimes more than a month passes. And due to the fact that fungal spores are very tenacious, this type of lichen is considered one of the most easily transmitted and difficult to cure. Doctors call this ailment microsporia, or trichophytosis.
Ringworm in humans: symptoms, complications and treatmentThere are two ways of infection with microsporia. In the first case, the source of the disease is animals. Doctors noted that small kittens that do not have visual signs of the disease can still be carriers. Close contact with them can cause ringworm in people. Symptoms when infection comes from animals can be more aggressive than when infected from humans. In addition to the rash, the general condition of the patient is complicated by fever, swollen lymph nodes, pain in the head and unbearable itching.
So, we already know that an infected person for a long time may not be aware of this. At risk of infection is his entire environment. Mushroom spores are quickly transmitted from the patient to healthy people through common household items.
Whatever the path of infection, after a while, a spot appears on the skin, which is localized on any part of the body or head. Ringworm (photo) in people, depending on the color of their skin, can be of different colors. These are pink, red, purple and gray shades. The spot is round or oval, with a distinct outline. Inside, it is rough, slightly paler than the color of the contour.
After a while, a rash appears on other parts of the body. It looks much smaller in diameter, sometimes resembling a puncture bite of a midge or mosquito.
When the primary spot is localized on the scalp, this prevents the timely diagnosis of the disease. A person can learn about it only when the fungus has cut hairs to the very root, forming a bald patch. In such cases, immediate treatment by a specialist is required, which is not limited only to ointments for external use. If a ringworm in a person is located on the head, most often you have to part with your hair. While in men such a need does not cause much anxiety, for women it is just the terrible consequences of the disease.
How to treat ringworm in humans?
The appointment of a treatment regimen should be done by a dermatologist after confirming the diagnosis. As a rule, therapy begins with the hair shaving around the spots. This is done so that the fungus could not cling to nearby hairs and increase the area of damage. Then, twice a day, simple procedures are performed. Lubrication is carried out depriving a solution of iodine diluted in half with alcohol or vodka. Moreover, it is necessary to process lichen, starting from its edges (capturing 0.5 cm of healthy skin), ending with a point in the center of the spot. After this, an antifungal drug in the form of an ointment is used. Thus, after three months, ringworm in humans can be cured. Symptoms of its manifestation go away much earlier, however, the procedure should still not be canceled independently.
