The beginning of the creative path

Cecilia Bartoli is a singer with a rare timbre of voice. She has a coloratura mezzo-soprano.

Cecilia was born in Rome in 1966. Her parents are opera singers. Mother - Sylvanas Bazzoni, father - Pietro Angelo Bartoli. They were soloists of the Roman Opera House. The first and main teacher in vocals of Cecilia was her mother. For the first time, the future star entered the “big” stage at the age of nine. She took part in the mass episode of the opera Tosca, which was staged at the Roman Theater, and was in the form of a shepherdess. At 17, the future opera star entered the Conservatory "Santa Cecilia".

She became famous after participating in the New Talents TV show in 1985. There she performed Rozina’s aria from the opera The Barber of Seville, Barcarole from the Hoffmann's Tales by Jacques Offenbach and performed a duet with Leo Nucci. Cecilia took second place. Soon she was invited to participate in a concert dedicated to the memory of Maria Callass at the Paris Opera. There she was noticed by such prominent artists as Daniel Barenboim, Herbert von Karajan and Nikolaus Arnonkur.

A year after graduating from the conservatory in Cologne, the singer performed the part of Rosina in the opera The Barber of Seville by J. Rossini, and also in Zurich the role of Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro by V. A. Mozart. Cecilia was invited by Herbert von Karajan to participate in the festival in Salzburg. She was supposed to perform Johann Sebastian Bach with his orchestra Mass in B Minor. But this plan was not destined to be realized, since the maestro died.

In 1990, Cecilia Bartoli performed the part of Cherubino at the Bastille Opera, as well as the part of Idamant (V. A. Mozart "Idomen") and participated in the festival in the USA. In 1991, the singer made her debut at the La Scala theater. There she performed a page in the opera by J. Rossini - "Count Ori". At 25, Cecilia Bartoli became one of the world's leading performers of the works of J. Rossini and V.A. Mozart. Since then, her career has gone uphill.

Career development

Since 2005, Cecilia Bartoli decided to focus on the music of baroque and early classicism. She began to perform the works of A. Vivaldi, A. Salieri, KV. Gluck and J. Haydn. Now the singer has switched to the era of romanticism and the Italian Belcanto. Currently, C. Bartoli is a soloist with the Zurich Opera. A star often happens in Russia.

The opinions of critics regarding this artist were divided. Some consider her brilliant. Others say that she is one of the best singers solely for the reason that she has practically no worthy competitors. In the world there are very few women with such a voice. Whatever the case, C. For many years she met with the Swiss opera singer Cecilia Bartoli. The personal life of the singer underwent changes in 2011. She and her boyfriend officially married. The wife of Cecilia is bass baritone Oliver Widmer. He is a laureate of contests in Stuttgart, Munich and Lucerne. Oliver is touring the world. He plays the parts in such operas as The Magic Flute and Everything That Does by V. A. Mozart, The Barber of Seville, Capriccio, Ariadne on Naxos by Richard Strauss and others.
