Brief description of the plot
The free screen version of the opus of the Marquis de Sade by supporters of Pazolini's brainchild is positioned as an ideal reproduction of the writer’s ideas, consistent with his spirit, despite the fact that the action was postponed to the period of the fascist republic of Salo.
At the center of the story are people of high society who are humiliating, mocking, tormenting girls and boys in an attempt to sweeten their perverted mind. For the perverted elite, these executions are the last opportunity to satisfy base instincts, for captives - retribution for youth and beauty, the desire to live.
Criticism
According to the ideas of a certain part of critics, despite the stiffness and repulsive impression, the film "Fat, or 120 days of Sodom", the actors of which were mostly not professionals, is a "black masterpiece". It has been repeatedly compared with the defiantly provocative, accusatory “Golden Age” of Luis Bunuel.
Other scholars considered it unacceptable to have such a naturalistic demonstration of violence, sexual perversion, brutal torture and bloody killings. In some states, the Pazolini project is still banned for display.
After the premiere of the film project “Fat, or 120 Days of Sodom”, the actors who participated in the creation of the film continued to realize themselves in the field of cinema, but with a different degree of success. A more noticeable trace in the history of cinematography was left only by the leading actors - P. Bonachelli, D. Cataldi, W. Quintavalle and A. Valletti.
