The future celebrity was born on February 21, 1983 in one of the most beautiful European capitals - Paris. Her father, a Jewish Jew, was engaged in dubbing films, and her French mother taught ballet. Melanie spent her childhood in the ninth arrondissement of Paris, which is famous for its large concentration of creative people. From a young age, the girl began to seriously become interested in cinema and dreamed of becoming a famous actress.
The beginning of a film career
Melanie Laurent once accidentally appeared on the set of the film "Asterix and Obelix." Here, a sixteen-year-old girl was drawn to the attention of Gerard Depardieu, who invited her to take part in his next project, entitled “A Bridge Between Two Rivers”. As a result, in 1999, young Melanie first appeared on the big screen. The directors of the melodrama were Frederic Obürten and Gerard Depardieu, who also played the main role in it.
It is safe to say that the acting debut of Melanie Laurent was a success, in connection with which she began to be actively invited to various projects. As a result, over the next ten years, more than 20 paintings of various genres with her participation were released. The most notable of them are such films as “This is my body” (2001), “Kiss whoever you want” (2002), “Extreme Extreme” (2003), “I have been waiting for you” (2004), as well as “My the heart stopped beating ”(2005) and others.
Continuing a movie career
Melanie Laurent, whose filmography already included a significant number of notable works, in 2006 achieved even greater success thanks to filming in the Philippe Lior film called “Don't worry, I'm fine.” Moreover, the director was so delighted with the actress's performance of previous roles that he approved her in the project without any preliminary castings and samples. As a result, Laurent brilliantly played a 19-year-old girl named Lily, who fell into desperate depression due to the disappearance of her twin brother. Thanks to this work, Melanie became the laureate of the prestigious Cesar film award.
In this picture, the actress was very touching to show her sister's love for her twin brother, who from the moment of conception was literally her half. The film turned out to be very strong and was able to convey to the viewer the need to wait and hope for a happy outcome, no matter what.
Thanks to the huge success of the picture, Melanie's popularity skyrocketed. Various scenarios literally rained down on her. However, despite the talented directors and the excellent acting of Laurent and her partners on the set, the next few films with her participation did not receive much attention from either the audience or critics. The list of these works includes such films as “Patriots” (2006), “Hidden Love” (2007), “Death Room” (2007), “Killer” (2008) and “Paris” (2008).
Second wave of success
The real world fame came to Melanie Laurent in late 2008, when the film was released by director Quentin Tarantino called “Inglourious Basterds”. At first glance, it might seem that the picture tells of a war. However, in fact, people with their emotions, feelings and motives for action are in the center of the plot. Tarantino, in his characteristic manner, presented the viewer with an alternative history of the Second World War, which literally caused a storm of emotions both among the audience and critics. On the set of Inglourious Basterds, Melanie had the opportunity to work with such famous Hollywood actors as Brad Pitt, Eli Roth, Christoph Waltz and Til Schweiger.
Participation in this project made Melanie a star of international scale and opened up new opportunities for her. So, in 2009, the film “Concert” was released, in which Laurent played the role of a talented violinist. The following year, paired with Ewan McGregor, the actress starred in the film "Beginners." This was followed by films with her participation, such as “Roundup” (2010), “Requiem for a Killer” (2011), “Enemy” (2013), “Illusion of Deception” (2013), as well as “Night Train to Lisbon” (2013 )
Melanie Laurent: personal life
The heroine of our story today carefully guards herself and her loved ones from the ubiquitous journalists and paparazzi. I must admit that it turns out she’s just brilliant, since very little is known about Laurent’s personal life. So, curious journalists found out that for a long time the actress was in close relationship with fellow movie director Julian Boisselier. After that, she began an affair with a singer and composer from Ireland - Damian Rhys, with whom she even recorded her first music album.
Today it is known that the actress is married. In September 2013, she gave birth to a son, who was named Leo. However, Melanie Laurent, whose husband still remains incognito, apparently does not rush to tell the public who the father of her child is.
